Oranum- Pirating decks

DaughterOfDanu

Oranum, one of the many psychic service websites has taken the Victorian Romantic Tarot and altered it, putting their logo on the backs of the cards as seen here: http://imgur.com/qDa1utY

I was not able to find where they are selling the deck, but it looks as if they have even gone through the trouble of creating packaging for it.

Baba Studio is taking legal action and Karen has asked others to help spread the word. They have contacted Oranum, but the images are not being taken down. Instead, any comments on Oranum's facebook page are being removed promptly.

Moderator note:

We can discuss Oranum and pirating in a general sense but Karen has made it extremely clear that neither images of her decks nor anything she writes or posts are allowed to be put up on ATF. Hence I removed the link to her post.

Sorry I wasn't aware. Iirc she used to be active on here, things must have changed while I was on hiatus a few years back. My apologies.

Karen contacted me, she says links are in fact all right, just no copy/ pasting of her copyrighted material.

Here is a blog post of theirs featuring the deck as part of a giveaway so there is more than just one copy. Love how creative they were with the name "Oranum Victorian Romantic Tarot" I can't believe how bold they were especially with the VRT being one of the more well known decks among serious tarot readers, in my opinion.

Wow! Just, Wow. I can't believe what I'm seeing. And their boxes are very similar to the most recent ones Karen and Alex had been using, too.

But how can they get away with this? I mean, you expect to see bootlegs from nondescript printers and such from Russia or the Far East, but this looks like an established company with a name. Where are they based?

It says on this page of their blog that they are a subsidiary of "media giant, Docler Media".

Docler Media is based in Los Angeles, USA, but is in turn part of Docler Holding, headquarters in Luxembourg, and originally from Hungary, or so it appears from their website.

I wonder if they know what their psychic subsidiary is doing.

ETA If you delve into the employee reviews of Docler Media, they sound pretty sketchy.

"Cons
1. Ummm....you have to feel comfortable with the industry that Docler Media makes most of their money on. Definitely not for everyone."

"Cons
this company is fake and was built as a way to clean dirty money from europe. seems okay from the outside but the minute you step in you start realizing how corrupt and shady this docler media "company" really is."

"very disrespectful to women but what can you expect from a porn company."

They're deleting comments left and right off their Instagram too. They even used the hashtag Baba Studios! Ridiculous.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's other lesser known decks that have met the same fate through Oranum. :/ We might not even know about the situation if they hadn't made the mistake of pirating such a popular deck.

Update: Both the Facebook photo and the Instagram contest photo have been removed after a barrage of comments warning people of the situation. The contest post on their site's blog still remains.

Aaaand the page is gone! I hope Karen and everyone else archived it. And I hope Baba goes to town on Oranum!
