Wow, I really put my foot it my mouth that time. I really really misunderstood your post! I guess I thought you were saying something else entirely!
Not your fault! I wrote that post at around 6:30 AM, and I'm not great with clear sentence structure even when I'm fully awake.
Could the larger figure be the Sun giving Love to Scorpio and the latter accepting it?
Clearly then the infamous mitten is just an oven mitt, since that cup must be burning hot if it's being held by the Sun. Scorpio dwarf girl is just showing good sense by protecting her hand!
Being serious, I just noticed something I hadn't conciosuly recognized about this card before--it's one of the only cards that shows background buildings in perspective with people in the foreground. In nearly all the other cards (stage cards and otherwise) the background is very small as if seen from a distance. In this card the characters feel like they're dwarfed (see what I did there ) by the buildings. In fact, the only other Minor Arcana that has architecture that is both in scale and in the foreground (and where the card isn't set indoors) is the Ten of Pents. Is this significant? I really have no clue. I definitely understand with greater clarity why this card seems to 'stick out' from the rest of the deck, though.
