Combing out the fortune spread--Nigel Jackson

Zula

In the book that accompanies the Medieval Enchantment/Nigel Jackson Tarot, there is a spread called "Combing out the fortune" (p. 106). For the life of me, I can't figure out from the description how the spread works or what it looks like. It sounds interesting though. Has anyone had any luck with this spread?

I hope this is clear! Let me know if it's not. I'll try to clear it up more.

First, you take the majors out from the deck. Set them aside.
You shuffle the minors.
Lay them down one at a time in the order of a minor arcana suit.

The first card you lay down will represent the King of that suit (14) (say coins)
2nd card would represent the Queen of coins (13)
3rd card would represent the Knight of coins (12)
4th card would represent the Page of coins (11)
5th card would represent the 10 of coins
6th card would represent the 9 of coins
7th would represent the 8 of coins
and so on

It might be easier to have a piece of paper to the left to help you
with the list of the minor suit and what number they correspond to.

When you are laying down these cards, if the card you are laying down
is the same 'number' card as the card it represents you put that card down
as the first card for your reading.

Once you get a match, you continue using the cards again and
start all over at the top with the next majors card that would represent the King in a suit.

When you are all done with the cards and putting them in the spots for the minor suits,
the cards you have matched will be the ones you do your reading with.
You might only have one card that matches or two. It's not necessarily going
to give you a lot of cards for your reading.

According to the spread, the more cards you have the busier your life is.
If you go through all this and no cards match, then matters are still undetermined
so you should wait a while before doing a reading again.

Thanks for the explanation--I finally get it! According to the book, however, this is a minors only spread, so all of the cards will match up to the layout. This is a good spread for mini-decks.
