There's a lot of really good books listed here. But, the one essential work that you need to be very familiar with if you want to know how the Kabbalah has been linked to Tarot, the Hebrew letters and Tree, astrology and/or numbers: The Sepher Yetzirah. (There's nothing in the Hebrew Kabbalah, including this book, that suggests a Tarot link.) There is a long and a short version (read both) and many translations with slight variations. I believe there are several places on the web that compare editions. If you want to understand it better then get Ari Kaplan's book, The Sepher Yetzirah.

Other than that you need to determine if you want to learn about Hebrew Kabbalah (several schools), early Christian Kabbalah, or Golden Dawn (Magickal) Qabala.
