Lightbulb RWS Tarot 101 King of Swords

Share your thoughts on the King of Swords.

King of Swords

When I look into the King of Swords I see a man who is a pillar of strength, someone who is incorruptible, gives sound advice, a leader who leads like a general and not like a politician. He is successful and respected. On his throne are butterflies, one flanked by resent moons.

“Butterfly: A universal symbol for transformation. Butterflies are shown on the queen and king of sword cards, and typically indicate a change in the thoughts of the querent, or someone close in the querent's life. Butterflies go through several changes and transformation before they develop into their final state of beauty. They are a symbol that we as human do the same thing to reach our end goal and to obtain a better way of thought and living.
The back of his throne is decorated with air symbols of butterflies, crescent moons, and an angel just near his left ear, positioned as though giving him guidance. The sky is relatively clear with a few clouds that do not indicate a storm, much unlike the stormy weather in the other court cards in the suit of swords. The trees in the background appear motionless and reflect the stern judgment of the King.”

Another tread on the Kings butterflies;

This king acts on his decisions, being impartial and fair. Problems which were unsolvable in the past are now resolved before this king. Be true to yourself, judge fairly, speak the truth and always live by your values and ethics.

Direct: Macho, leader, authority figure, determined steadfast, win at all costs, a judge, commander, wise counselor.

Reversed: Bully, selfish, nit picks, deceitful, cruel, dangerous person, law suit lost, misuse of power, evil intentions.
