High Priestess, Justice, 2 of Swords

Emeraldgirl

On the weekend I was suddenly struck by the similarities of these three cards.
They all interconnected for example:

- Veil between Pillars on HP and Justice.
- Crescent Moon on HP and 2 of Swords
- All women seated on concrete seats
- 2 Swords (2 of Sowrds) balanced as scales balanced on Justice
- Water behind "stage" on HP and 2 Swords
- Hp is number 2 of the majors, 2 Swords is number 2 of Swords Suit and Justice is 11 (1+1 = 2)
- Figure in 2 of sowrds is blindfolded. Justice is blind and HP is blind to those who don't wish to see.

There were a few more but that is all I can really remember now. Has anyone else had any experiences with this where all of a sudden you are looking at cards and WHAM it hits you that they are all so interconnected?

2 Swords & Cresent Moon

Just as the title of the book implies, the cards are a pictorial key, some moreso than others. In the G.·.D.·. system, the first decan of Libra is designated as Moon in Libra. Swords being equated to Air, and Libra being the Cardinal Air sign, with the "pips" 2/3/4 of each suit being equated to the Cardinal signs... 2 Swords is the first decan of Libra and is simplistically illustrated with moon and balanced swords.

If you mean the artist got the Moon "wrong" that's a stretch...
but then again ~ what is Moonlight without poetry... a Manual?
Or would we be seeing an odd old rusted Moon with neon light?

By "simplistically," it is meant "obvious." The connection that is to be made with II The High Priestess and the Moon contained therein, as well as the card's planetary attribution of Moon.

And no, I believe the artist got it right... as per her instructions. ;)

I enjoy your delightfully literal interpretations,
but hope you know that books are fallible...
in the case of A.E.Waite often deliberately so.

The Key to the Tarot was written in 1910,
The "Pictorial" Key to the Tarot in 1911...

So ~ we are not being given pictorial keys,
just Waite adding pictures~ to boost sales.

Also please consider, if Waite published "facts"
instead of "pulp" they would make more sense.
