Similar decks to the Playing Card Oracle?

Bhavana,

You're welcome! Thanks for the links. I've only ever seen a few cards of the Key to the Kingdom deck before and they didn't quite grab my interest, but now seeing more of the whole deck, I am very intrigued. I just ordered a deck. Thanks!

I bought the Ana Cortez book and vintage deck today can't wait to receive and delve into it. Marina refers to it so often in her Saturness blog, that the Playing Card Oracle deck seems like an old friend.

I know, I know!! Isn't it awesome looking?? It's based on nursery rhymes - how cool is that? I have been reading up on these types of playing cards, officially called "transformation playing cards"...it's a whole other world out there...

they have been made since the 19th century, and you should look up some of the older decks, some are pretty amazing.. I am so excited to be getting Keys to the Kingdom, can't wait for it to get here...and I think I am very tempted to maybe get a few more of these decks???

Did you get the vintage deck from the Ana Cortez website? I'd love to hear what you think about it when you get it, and see some photos if you can manage it. I really would love to find the USG version, the oop one - though I did find out from Ana that it should be very soon that USG is putting out the new version - with less glossy cardstock, she said...
Do you have the link for Marina's blog? Also, not sure if you know, but Ana has a lot of videos on Youtube showing her working with the deck - very helpful. You can tell this deck is really her life's work. I can't wait to get the deck and work with it.

I have the Keys to the Kingdom deck...it's truly a work of art. I, too, have a fondness for transformation decks.... La Tee Dah, Wild Animals...

PicTarot is one you might want to look for... ;)

I love transformation decks, particularly the historic ones with fixed pips. The modern ones don't usually entice me as they rarely incorporate fixed pips, so I have always overlooked the Keys deck until seeing much more of it in the link you provided. Some of the artwork is really stunning.

My favorite historical transformation cards are the two that Meneghello have reprinted...and the one by Solleone that is still readily available. You should definitely check those out, and if you like transformation decks, don't wait too long as they are all numbered limited editions.

You can easily get the Solleone here:
http://www.carte-karuta.com/catalog/...roducts_id=147
It's a limited printing of 800.

The Meneghello decks are still available directly from their site, but I have never ordered one of their decks this way so am not sure what this is like. I think I got mine from ebay at different times.

Also the Lo Scarabeo Goethe deck is a must have in my opinion. It's cheap and in stock at Amazon.uk although someone on ebay always seems to be trying to sell one for 50 bucks.

Also, if you are interested in the historic decks, this is a nice overview of dozens of decks:
http://www.amazon.com/Transformation-Playing-Cards-Albert-Field/dp/0880790334
It's worth buying a used copy of it.

I've seen this book a few times in the past couple of days - and have been considering it.

The Solleone link you posted doesn't work -
is this the deck?

That Goethe deck looks great...
thanks for the links - if you think of any others, please post them here for me!

Hoping my Keys deck arrives today....

BTW, what part of Pennsylvania are you in? I'm not far from Philadelphia.

That is the Solleone deck yes, but that is a really high price. The Carte Karuta website that I linked to sells it for 14.50 plus shipping I think. The same guy that has that website also sells it on ebay for the same price I believe. You might want to check there.

I live between Williamsport and Lewisburg and have for the past three years or so. Before that though I lived in Plymouth Meeting for 4 years and Philadelphia for 6. I miss the city.

The Solleone link you posted doesn't work -

Try this link: http://www.carte-karuta.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16&products_id=147

If that doesn't work, go here: http://www.carte-karuta.com/catalog/
and click on Transformation on the left column.

or here is an ebay auction from the same seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cartes-Recreatives-Transformation-Playing-cards-Repro-/390411307414

good seller, I have placed 3 or 4 orders with him over the past couple of months.
