What stone is this?

Metra

I bought this stone over a year ago and made it into a necklace... hence the quality lol. All I remember is the description for the stone saying something about bringing out your true self or helping you be your true self? I keep thinking it's howlite, but it has a particular gleam that I'm not sure is typical of howlite. Please help!

It sort of reminds me milky quartz, and with those black inclusions I would guess it could be white quartz tourmaline.

I've added a pic of a white quartz tourmaline sphere, I think it's sort of similar, except for what seems to be the rainbow sheen on one of the pics, so it may have some other inclusions in the stone aswell, the main white of the stone though does look quite like milky quartz.

The part about helping you to actualize your true self sounds like Hollandite, which does have black inclusions...but they usually look like little black stars, and they're usually suspended in a stone that looks less opaque than yours. If you surf up some images you'll see what I mean. I don't believe that what you have there is Howlite, but I'm sorry to say I don't have any better guesses for you...

It could be dalmation stone (feldspar and quartz, often incorrectly called "dalmation jasper"), which does have to do with realizing one's purpose.

Because of its translucent and black mottles, I think this is sesame jasper (which many references interchange with kiwi jasper). It is said to inspire honesty with oneself.

That's rainbow moonstone :) I just finished a crystal healing course and came across this stone. It can have black inclusions which is usually black tourmaline. A stone of the new consciousness.

either tourmalinated quartz, or tourmalinated rainbow moonstone. If you paid rather a lot for it, it would be the moonstone - if you paid around $20 or less, it is more likely to be the quartz :)

But yes, the black inclusions are defs tourmaline shards. So I am with TigerAngel and WolfSwan on that.

Thanks to everyone for helping! I think wolfswan is right about it being rainbow moonstone. I don't remember paying that much for it but it comes the closest in pictures to it. Especially with the gleam it gives off.

I think it is dalmatian stone. I have seen this stone before.

100% sure it's rainbow moonstone- a whitish feldspar related to labradorite, often with the little black tourmaline/schorl inclusions. You can tell by the flashes of labradorescence!
