Awakening the Fey

Recent reading using 3-card "flow"

Sullis, I recently did a relationship reading using Place's example in his book; 3 cards each in three groups. Almost all of my comments were confirmed by the lady in question -- she comes from another country and culture and had not indicated her situation very deeply at first. From her reply I was able to confirm the accuracy of most of the reading -- other parts of the reading have yet to happen or be explained. But, I am satisfied with the approach and directions given. I had not been expose to the approach that Place advocated before but had always used spreads wherein each position had a definite meaning relative to the question. I glad to hear that this has worked well for you. In one way or another the Fey Tarot has helped to expand my understanding of the Tarot. Dave
PS -- I like your website. My site should go active in September and I can hardly wait to get it up and going, its been two years in preparation.

One thing I love the most about this deck is its straight through reaidng style.. I mean even silly readings are fun.. for example.. I was feeling rather lazy this afternoon and simply missed playing with my Fey so I pulled them out and asked "should I get up and get moving to finish my chores or should I just lay around for a while and enjoy the rest.." and I pulled Knave of Pentacles, an OBVIOUS get off your butt and move card! :D I love those little guys!

I just love the little lovely Fey!
I can't help to think that it is a deck that was made perfectly for me...heehee.
just kidding, but all things seem to point that direction.
I have always enjoyed fairies, but the fluff side of it was not really my thing (that's commercialism for ya) The Fey stand out compared to the fairies of old times.
Come mid September - October, I should have more time to get some studies going. In the mean time, I am really interested in the spread Dadsnook has mentioned.

A NOTE- to beginners.....
have a look at the 'Interviews'. This is something that can be done on your own, in your own time. It is a really go excercise to break through to the cards that give one trouble.

The spread that was "new" to me.

The spread that has mentioned here is one published in Robert Place's book on Tarot Symbolism that has been recently reprinted. What made it unique for me was that it used three groups of three-card spreads in a way that I had not seen before. Let me explain.

Each position in each three card group does not, repeat NOT, have a given positional meaning such as in a past-present-future spread. Instead his examples work on "energy flow." Typically, you look at the middle card to see if it faces you, faces right or left, faces away, etc. Then, you observe the cards to either side in terms of their posture relative to the central card. Robert Place notes that there are several combinations -- he categorizes these in several ways in that the postures and positions can suggest an issue in which there is an answer, a decision, a conflict, a choice, two choices, etc. I don't have the book with me while on vacation but when I return home in another two weeks we can explore using the Fey in this manner and explore the specific variations more deeply. Is anyone interested? Luna can determine if that exercise should be conducted here or in the reading exchange or my-readings forums. Dave

Added . . . I'm aware that many books I've read have suggested that each card is influenced by those adjacent to it, just as there are other approaches to relating certain card positions within various spreads (clustering), but this book really clarified this "non-positional-meaning" approach for me. It also seems to make a bridge for me between my usual "card-position" spread usage and those who just "intuitively" read the cards in a seemingly casual way. Dave

How we go about it would determine where we should put it.
Will we be doing this as exchanges? for ourselves? or will we all look at the same set of cards?

I'm interested in a set set ;) and we share our views. I like seeing the different view points for the same cards.
