RWS Tarot 101 Seven of Cups

Seven of Cups

"I acknowledge my factasies, yet ask the universe to provide my needs" Greer

When I sat down to study this card, my first thoughts “Easy…card of choice”. The more I looked at the card the more it drew me in…in a flash the past five years of my life began to make sense. Fantasy, obsession, temptation, I was not in control, my head was in the clouds of the Seven of Cups!

Each cup is filled with a desire, some may be healthily, ethical choices, others may be our temptations, things that can tear apart our lives if followed through on. Yes, this is a choice card, but one that we must keep vigilant. Keep an eye on our dreams, make sure they do not turn into out of hand fantasies. “The fortress has no foundation”…make sure your ideas are in the “real” world, thought out, well planned. The cup with the wreath has a skill on it, I believe that victory must be won with valor, if not it is not a true victory at all. Hold on to your beliefs and ethics in any decision that you make, keep your head out of the clouds and out of trouble!

Direct: Many issues, confused, difficult choice, temptation, be on guard, creating fantasy, overindulging, additive patterns, party to excess, avoiding the “doing” of a project, cannot commit to decision.

Reversed: Focusing on main issue, tunnel vision, organized approach, practical, will power.

Not only is it all about that, but it is also about doing something about your dreams to bring it into a reality, I mean, say if you want to become an author, but you don't do anything about it, it just remains a dream. Does that make sense?

PAMUYA

Exactly, avoid the "doing" of a project, you dream about it but do nothing to move that dream into reality. If you do move on your dream you must keep your wits about you, follow your beliefs and ethics or your dream will turn into a nightmare.

Something like that

We are both saying the same thing, but in a different way, methinks ;)

PAMUYA

Methinks you right! ;).... never gave this card a second look, but after today it has a whole new feel!

Yes, northsea, please do expand on that. I don't know what you are trying to say either!

Sure. Dreams are commonly associated with the subconscious and contact with otherwordly spheres.

7—Seven is a cosmic number related to the seven planets, seven days of the week, seven colors, and seven notes on the musical scale. Things and opportunities are brought to the seven persons, without their actively seeking them. Those with this number should use their mental abilities to probe the deep mysteries and hidden truths of the universe. They are potential mystics; and with their extreme sensitivity, the seven personalities must guard against their tendency to wish to withdraw from the larger society in which they find themselves.

7 - SEVEN

(Vibrations: Metaphysical, Spiritual, Mediator, Investigator, and Seeker)

Seven seeks answers. It tries to establish a philosophy by which to live and attempts to penetrate the mystery behind its existence, which it never questioned to this point. Because solitude is necessary for analysis, the seven feels the need to spend time alone, away from the crowds, in touch with nature. It looks for friendship with those of an elevated consciousness that can match its own. It is quiet, introspective, intuitive, analytical, inspirational, reclusive, philosophical, and mystical. In standard Tarot it is The Chariot - Divine Victory.
