Faerie Spotting...

hey i found this really cool article on faeries... So thought to post it and share it with everyone...

Faerie Spotting*

As the title suggests, this article is about spotting faeries.

How does a person spot a faerie? Is it possible to see faeries only with the
third eye? Are faeries real?

In my tradition, I employ faerie energy for many things. Since it is a craft
passed down from the females of my mother's family, the information I provide
here may not be exactly what you have read or learned from other sources. The
information I present here is based on my experiences with the faerie since
childhood and the many visions and personal experiences with this remarkable
and very mysterious group of people.

The one constant in the pursuit of faerie contact is that each person will have
a different experience, for each faerie is a separate entity, possessed of a
keen intelligence and self-determination.

What works for me may not work for you, and likewise, many things that work for
others are not necessarily successful with me.

Are Faeries Real?

Yes, they are as real as you and I, as real as the house you live in. However,
faeries tend to state that our reality is based on illusion, which is very Zen
of them!

Contrary to many books on Faeries, they do not live in Fairyland. The race
known as the Tuatha De Daanan were a mystical and magickal people who lived in
Europe up to a specific age and then retreated underground in order to
escape further territorial tensions with the human/mortal element coming into
the Earth.

They have not always been here and their origin is not Terran. They describe
entraces, or gates, that exist as energy vortexes on a specific location on the
planet and it is through these that one can enter and depart between worlds and
parallel universes. They came to Earth by way of this gate, when their own
planet became uninhabitable due to the use of what they call "Earth Bombs".
Apparently, this race was once a highly warlike race and once their home was
polluted beyond salvation, they entered the gates to a parallel world. There
they lived for many generations until the same problems cropped up. A small
group left and passed through the gates and came to Earth. Here they stayed
for two reasons: 1) this planet reminds them of home; and, 2) each time you
pass via a gate one risks insanity and other genetic malformations. In their
case, the passing through 2 gates caused some malformations in their race,
namely in diminuition of size, or grotesque deformations. This occurred in a
small percentage but it was enough for them to become very concerned.

Can Faeries Perform Magick?

They seem to derive power or energy....very similar to the Wiccan ritual of
Drawing Down the Moon....but in their case it is derived from star light and
not the Moon.
They are able to tap into some sort of energy and manipulate it to their will.
They say that we are partially right when we teach that the mind is the
greatest of magickal tools. Their magick seems to consist of altering the
molecular structure of things...for example, converting molten wax to cool
paraffin in a matter of seconds (yes, it happened to me!)

How Do I Spot a Faerie?

Odds are that they have already spotted you! Faeries are wild creatures. They
don't need human companionship, but they have a very deep affection for humans.
It is, they say, because we are so young as a race.

Faeries can at will delve into shadow and become one with it. In other words,
if they do not wish to be seen they will blend themselves with the play of
light and dark which we call shadow and they become invisible to the human eye.
Their life force radiates a different form of light than our own and it is at
the end of the light spectrum. This is why we see a faerie better from the
corner of our eye than head on.

If a faerie has come to your home, it is because it is recognizing in you
skills, talents and desires that they honor as well. Faeries are very fond of
the Earth and its fauna. So if you are a person with a green thumb, they will
most probably like to drop by. Music is a great passion and they often say,
"If you compose a song...don't be so quick to thank the Muses....it is probably
a faerie tune we've whispered to you."

Animals are another passion. They have a gift with horses and dogs, although
they claim dogs tend to trample their gardens and are not as gentle as cats.
Many times they will harness a dragonfly and use it for transportation.

Their main celebrations are May Day/Beltaine, Midsummer, Yule and Samhain...but
Samhain is a reserved holiday, more for introspection than celebration. Their
magick seems to be at its most powerful at Midsummer.

What Does a Faerie Look Like?

They have the ability to shift shapes and form. I suspect....my
suspicion....is that they can telepathically project an image into my mind and
this is what my eyes see. However, they can come in small sizes, to an average
sized human adult.
I have seen some with wings, but rarely. Only one individual. Others can
float, go through walls, appear and disappear at will. They can be redheads,
blondes, brunettes and some silver haired.

They are not immortal. But their life span is thousands of years past ours.
They can killed, they bleed and they know emotional pain.

And they say that some human clans are mixed with their blood. And this too
they leave there.

Ways to Spot a Faerie

Outright tell them you would like to be their friend and that you would like to
receive an idea or confirmation as to how to go about this. Once you have made
this statement, let them do the work. You will find that there will be an
increased flow of faerie-related items, issues, etc suddenly begin to appear in
your life. Take this as a confirmation that they have heard you.

Another way is to observe things about your house. Are items suddenly
disappearing? Especially jewelry. If this is so, just tell them you know they
will bring it back. In their own time, of course.

Leave trinkets for them. My faerie friends like to have cotton balls left out
during winter months, as well as some pieces of fabric, water and bread. In
the case of food, they will not physically consume the items, instead they draw
sustenance from the energies of the food stuff....this has been explained to me
several times and although I have come to understand that it is a matter of
molecular adaptation, I still cannot get a fix on what it is they do with the
food!

This list is a preferred items list based on my experience and those of my
family:

FOOD:
Honey, bread, corn, mutton, all green vegetables, tomatoes, sweets such as
cookies but not candy or gum...these they will not touch.

BEVERAGES:
Milk, fresh water, beer, whiskey and coffee

FLOWERS:
All sorts of flowers...favorites are roses, gardenias, jasmine, carnations,
lilies and sunflowers.

MUSIC:
Anything that sounds Celtic (really!) I play them Enya...they love it. I play
Van Halen, I can hear their sighs...well, there is no accounting for taste,
right LOL!!!

LITERATURE:
Any love poetry. Read it to them outloud when you have a private moment.

INCENSE:
Creatures associated with air, they are not that fond of incense, unless it is
something sweet and fruity.

CANDLES:
They have no preferences there.

ANIMALS:
Horses, cats, dogs, birds. One way to attract them to your garden is to place
a bird fountain or a bird house on the property. They love hanging around with
birds.

OTHER:
I have heard many times that one way to get rid of a faerie (why would anyone,
I don't know) is to ring bells, thus
chimes are supposed to drive them away. Actually, they LOVE bells and chimes
and if you hang one for them soon you will begin to hear the clanking and
clinking at all odd hours...even when there is no wind. They simply love bells.
Leaving them little silver bells will delight them!
The other legend about looking through the natural hole of a stone and find a
faerie staring back...this one gave them fits. No, they say, this is not true,
although they can understand how a merchant would make a great deal of money
selling stones with holes in them.

Love poetry....my oh my...how they love romantic prose. Anything romantic will
do. Read them poetry outloud and don't worry about looking like a
ninny....they will know it is for them.

Ask them for their help in the wild. If you come to a park or garden that
looks sad and abandoned, call on them to heal the plants and trees there. They
will come, and what's more, since they have a connection to the earth gnomes,
they will enlist their assistance as well.

Faeries, like humans, have the gift of the Sight. And unlike us, theirs is
right on target all the time. Once you are befriended by a faerie, you will
most likely always have contact with the same individual. They will not tell
you their real name, only the name by which you are to call them. Fond of
talking, they will talk you to tears if you let them! However, in matters
involving the Sight it is always a good idea to write down what they have said
or shown you.

Contrary to what many legends and lore claim, faeries do not steal human
children and put a faerie child in its place.
Faeries love their children as deeply as we do and they are aghast at the
thought that we would believe and even propagate such an error. When I asked
them where they thought this idea came from, the response was immediate:
ignorance.

Dark Faeries

Is there such a thing? They claim that unfortunately yes. Dark in the sense
that they are not as fond of humans, prefer to live solitary bitter lives and
do not mix well with the energies of most of the fae. Their energies tend to
make one weepy and angry. They can come into a home looking for shelter or
just to be mean and spiteful. They can cause trouble, and enjoy creating
terror in a human heart. Some are quite lovely and others rather ugly.

Why? They have shown me that in the travels between parallel worlds and in the
early days of their stay on earth there were born faerie children with genetic
mutations. Travel between parallel worlds apparently affected them. As I
said, they are flesh and blood. Not astral, fluff bunny beings. (they like
this term, by the way) They do have their own technologies, are an extremely
ancient race and a force to be reckoned with! Some of the creatures we call
Dark Fae are actual descendants of soldiers and beings bred for warfare, first
against the Kelts and then against the Romans.
When the faerie nation that we have (they claim erroneously) come to call the
Tuatha da Daanan delved into the caverns and caves on the Earth, the soldier
and warrior faction split away and were led by another group, most staying
above ground to roam the earth into what became the stories and legends of
vampires, trolls, goblins and the such.

The creatures, say my friends, should be avoided at all cost. If one is
harrassing you, they recommend calling upon Maab or the Morrigan, or your own
deity and they say to not have pity and banish the evil creature.

Can they undo what was done? No, they have tried. And they say no more on
this.

The best advice I can give anyone who wishes to pursue and establish a firm
connection with the world of the fae is to have faith, be alert for the magick
in your life, listen carefully. Give instead of taking, approach them with
respect and some humility for they are indeed an ancient race with much to
teach.
