Lo Scarabeo's new Gypsy Oracle cards....

Bernice

I have the 2007 deck. I don't find it creepy - I like it - especially because it hasn't got a number sequence. :)

If given a choice, I would have preferred the version that Stella has though, lighter - more 'open'.

Got mine yesterday. (defineatly a repro.) I haven't used it yet, but I like them alot. What struck me is that the image on the Wedding card is the painting "The Marriage of the Virgin" by Raphael, and the image on the Hope card is "Hope" by George Frederick Watts. (Had to look that one up! I studied art history ;) )

Belated thanks for this post, I've puzzled over the SDZ "Speranza" card for years. I'd never seen the painting, here is the card image:

As you can see, there is no harp string visible on the card. But here is the painting:

Now it makes sense! So hats off to you. :D

The La Vera doesn't use that image, it uses a woman by the sea with an anchor, looking at a winged Mithraic-like lion, kind of like the one on the RWS II of Cups. (The other Hope card image is taken from the Biedermeier deck, similar imagery was being used in Germany.)

You studied art history? PM on the way!!!!

Hiya everyone:

I was recently gifted a set of the newest edition of the Gypsy Oracle cards and would love to know the corresponding playing card for each card that was part of the original printing. Is there a way to deduce this on my own or is there a generous soul with the original deck that would post the corresponding playing card information?

And I really appreciate all the discussion about the art and history of the cards. Hurray for tarot sleuths...

Thanks so much!
