The empress and the nine of swords

Hello!

So I asked the tarot what a certain man thinks of me and I got the empress and the nine of swords. And I'm not sure how to interpret it.

The history is we were dating then I got friend zoned a while back and I was wondering if we'd ever date again..

The nine of swords usually means regret so maybe he's regretting friend zoning me? And I know the empress can either be romantic or motherly care so I guess that does mean he cares but in what capacity?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I pulled the empress and then wanted to pull another card to see if the empress meant more platonic care or romantic care, then got the nine of swords so I'm not sure what to think of that.

Perhaps he sees the woman of his dreams but someone whose got her defences up.

Sweet and lovely at times, but a tendency to be negative and some issues.
