Rede Seeker

I have a hard time reading the Knave cards as a variant of the Page. They feel more 'Knight'like' but what does that do to the Knight's place in the court cards?

Any thoughts?

Knave and Knight through the Suits

My observations:

Wands: The knave and knight are both looking in the same direction - their goals are the same. The knave appears to be a herald. He has one short sword but seems to be wearing armor without a helmet. His banner and drapery would encumber him if he went into combat. The knight's mount commands attention - as if the knight has earned the right to ride it. The knight him/herself is fully encapsulated in armor and helmet. The plume in his helmet matches his mount's mane and looks similar to the Ace of Wand's mane. His baton has active growth/leaves on it as opposed to the knave's banner. The knight has no apparent weaponry and no individual identity.

Swords: The knave and knight are in opposition - they are looking directly at each other. The knave seems more war-like, almost savage. Lean, tatooed and without armor. He stands in the wilderness. The knight seems one of a host, fully armored with helmet and sword. Her/his face is visible. Her/his mount looks like a conventional horse.

Pentacles: The knave and knight look in opposite directions - their understanding of their place differs. The knave has weapons, helmet and what looks like a breastplate and gauntlets. He appears to be 'listening' to the golden disk before him. He stands on a path on the edge of a wilderness. The knight is in deep weeds - does that mean trouble or concealment. He/she doesn't really look like a knight - no armor, no weapons - he/she looks more like a merchant. Squirrels are quick, but erratic. A squirrel mount would be an odd choice if stealth were the goal. Given the choice, I'd prefer to be the knave and be a warrior in the open. The knight shrinks from the public eye.

Cups: What is up with the knave of cups? What a silly outfit and his companion is a fish out of water. His expression is grim. He and the knight look in opposite directions. One is stationary, the other in full gallop. The cup in their hands is the only indication that they are connected in some way. The knave has an elaborate costume. The knight is naked and not human anymore. His adornments are a golden torque and matching bracelets.

All knights have a mount. In the case of the knight of cups - he is his own mount. Only the knight of swords has a conventional mount. The knights of cups and wands have mythic creatures. The knight of pentacles has one of the most common creatures in nature, one seen in every country and often considered a pest. Two knights look from left to right; two knights look from right to left.

All knaves are on foot. The knaves of wands and cups could be messengers, but the knaves of swords and pentacles appear to be warriors in training. Three knaves are looking in the same direction (right to left). The knave of swords looks from left to right.
