A visit to Jerusalem

kabbalistic code
on the wailing wall:
father's lottery numbers

:)

I had to laugh when he told me, and shouldn't be surprised: the only time he ever took me to church was to light a candle for the horse he had a bet on that day!

He hasn't won the lottery yet, but he did win £3000 on bingo on the evening he placed his numbers on the wailing wall :D

There was evening, and there was morning. And god saw that it was good.

Blasphemy? Superstion, magic or simpe faith? Whichever, he's me father and i l loves him anyway. Whatever, he may not know chesed from gevurah, but he's a better magician than I am...

Saturday dad –
I wait outside the bookies
with a can of pop,
at church we light a candle
for his horse

snowflakes
and a robin’s song
in streetlight
the city-bird sings
through the night

winter solstice
a bowl of red bean porridge
with fifty birds’ eggs
the days grow longer
and the years shorten

Debra

this is killer:

in streetlight
the city-bird sings
through the night

Thanks :)

For those wondering where is the kabbalastic content, let's just call it 'An Interlude'.

;)

winter solstice

Seems like a suitable celebratory rite.

the days grow longer
and the years shorten

... as they do not only after the Solstice, but after the midlife, too.

This crumbling stone
Was monumental once.
Shaped by dead hands
And the howl of the houri winds.

These stones were not always old, Fool!
Their cracks and lichen a horror -
The wine and votive olive oil
long dried and forgotten ...

(After the style of Kwaw)

An interude

When friends asked for a money ritual
I gave them naughty advice. })
They followed it through
and won over $300 on lotto !

That'll teach me to be a smart-arse ! :(

Seems like a suitable celebratory rite.

Donji Patjuk is a Korean red bean soup eaten at Donjji (winter solstice). It is said to be hated by spirits and thus drives them away, and ensures abundant harvests for the coming year.

... as they do not only after the Solstice, but after the midlife, too.

Good call:) 'fifty birds' eggs is a reference to age. To the red bean soup are added little rice dumplings called 'bird's eggs', you are supposed to add as many dumplings as your age.
