Help with identifying this stone?

(the part that's blocked out is tiny pic [no space]; is there any other way to imbed images?)

This is a stone I have had for a very long time. My aunt gave it to me when she came back from hawaii one year, and it came in a circular wooden box, which I still keep it in, and a slip of paper saying it's to help with having good dreams.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there!

I'd say it's jasper. Often, jasper ends up with fissures that can be filled by various mineral deposits, which would account for the web of turquoise that breaks up the darker jasper color. However, I would say that this has been color-treated, to make the mineral deposits that bright color. The jasper would mostly be unaffected by dye, making the difference between the colors on it.

Hope that helps!

Looks like chrysocolla to me. Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper silicate and the bright intense blue/greens are from the copper. It's often found with other minerals like azurite or malachite or cuprite. My favourite chrysocolla specimens are the chrysocolla cuprites -intense blue/green with intense red cuprite and black streaks - it's very striking. It's often called Sonora Sunrise or Sonora Sunset. It's a really soft stone so not often used for jewelry though I have a SS pendant I love and am careful with. When chrysocolla turns to quartz it's called gem silica and it turns translucent and super lovely too.
