Number of cards for regular readings

vijeno

Hi,

I've been doing regular readings for several
years now. I mean, the daily card for
myself. Partly for divination, partly for
practice and partly just for fun.

Now, experience shows me the number
of cards used should in some way
mirror the interval the reading is meant for, or the importance of the matters at hand.

I can't
possibly grasp all the meanings in a
full celtic cross on a normal working day. I simply miss the time and energy to do so.

For me, 1 card for a day works nicely but
doesnt give me enough to chew on. My own little spread with 7 cards is just the right thing (at the moment) for one week.

What are others' experiences?

in my personal experience ...

there doesn't seem an absolute need to increase the number of cards in the spread to match the interval. I'd say to stick with what you feel good with and just adapt the question you ask the cards.

I like spreads that include a number that is symbolically meaningful to me. Typically, this means 1,3,4, 5, 6,7, 8, 12 or 16 card spreads.

1= All is One
3= Trinities; the Mother Letters, the 3 Pillars, etc.
4= The Four Quarters, the Kerubic Angels, the Tetragramaton
5= The points of a pentagram, the elements + spirit
6= Tipareth and the Six pointed/Judaic star
7= the Seven Double Letters, the Alchemical Star, the Ancient planets
8= the Wheel, the 8 Wiccan holidays, the 8 pointed star
12= The simple letters, the signs of the zodiac, etc.
16= Four Elements in 4 Worlds, total # of Court Cards

I've never really thought about adapting specifically numbered spreads specifically the nature of the question, though. This is giving me a little food for thought, however.
