Adverse effects with stone or crystal ?

Apologies if this topic has appeared before, however I didn't find anything similar in a search. Have any of you ever experienced adverse effects from wearing or carrying a certain stone or crystal ? Was it the crystal itself or more a care issue ?

I have a dogtooth amethyst pendant which is a gift from my best friend. We both read tarot as well, and sometime ago she recommended I wear it on my neckchain again (I had been wearing a lovely carnelian cylinder pendant before then). I agreed with her advice and began wearing it, but since then I have noticed that I'm especially anxious and fearful, and that my thinking is very foggy. When I took the pendant off, it felt like I could breathe a lot better and my mental clarity returned. I haven't worn it since.

I'm hoping it's not the stone itself since it's beautiful, a connection with my friend, and my birthstone as well

I would very much appreciate your replies.

Everyone is affected by different things in different ways.

Once I was planning to do a meditation with a small sugilite pyramid, and since I was going to lie down I put on a headband to keep the pyramid from falling off and put the sugilite under it against my third eye. However - I fell asleep!

Although it didn't bother me immediately, the entire next day I felt like I was floating 6 inches above the floor - at an angle. ASA I got out of work I rushed to the closest gem/mineral/rock shop and bought a palm-sized chunk of smokey quartz to ground me out.

I never did that again!

I don't have an noticeable reactions to stones or crystals, but my 11 year old niece does - has actually had physical reactions to some - where she feels a numbness or strange feeling in the hand and arm on the side holding the stone, things like that. Some people are just more sensitive, I suppose.

Amethyst usually helps us feel into who we are, be confident and carry on with anything we are doing. Did you have any difficulties before while wearing it? As tarotbear said, we are effected in different ways. If you talk with stones, ask the pendant. If you don't talk with stones, maybe give it a try. It's just like intuitive tarot card reading, but generally easier due to less preconceptions regarding stones.

How do you clear stones? I have clusters, citrine and kyanite that keep everybody clear. You could place the dogtooth amethyst on or near a cluster or one of the other two stones. You can use sound to clear, the sun, moon, etc. I have actually held a stone with mischief attached and had it clear. Then when I set it down, the mischief returned. In that case, I was not directly involved--it was visiting--so when I returned it I mentioned that to my friend.

We can intend to be inside a crystal to avoid any mischief. One way to think of it is a crystal expanding to surround us etherically. Wonder how you would feel if you tried this with the amethyst?

You could ask the tarot for help and maybe ask your friend. If she's a friend, she can help. If not, you can move on.

Some stones drive me freaking crazy - I can barely stand to wear Super 7 or Kyanite, it sets my teeth on edge something fierce! Other stones repulse me so badly I cannot bring myself to even own any. Some stones (like Vesuvianite) I love so much, I wear all the time, as it makes me feel so calm and happy...I think you should listen to your body...if, after cleansing the amethyst (not a stone I wear much, either, I confess) you still feel uncomfortable with it, then I would just put it aside. Maybe wear it once in a while when your friend visits, but otherwise, don't. Respect your body's reaction.

We have a crystal healing specialist here in town and it is amazing how it works - for instance, I love rubies, but she showed me, using the resistance of my arm, how rubies made me horribly weak...so...I think it is better to work with the stones that make you feel strong and happy The crystal worker here chooses stones once she figures out what elements are strongest within you, and then chooses a stone for you that amplifies those energies.

tarotbear......I know this wasn't funny.....but OMG this made me laugh. I'm glad the pyramid stayed put and you didn't roll over and poke an eye out : )

This reminded me of the first time I tried scrying. I was trying everything and when I tried a piece of green calcite pictures started morphing and it was all so amazing. I'm not sure if it was the scrying or the crystal but after I was done I hopped in the shower and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to pass out. It was all I could do to hurry up and get out and go lay down. And then for the next 4 or 5 days I felt so off balance and ungrounded....despite numerous attempts to ground myself. 214red had posted an exercise for me to try that was actually for something else but it involved sending energy through my body. I tried the exercise and it got rid of that awful ungrounded feeling.

I was at a gem show once, picking up different pieces of some orangey stone... I suddenly got very hot, dizzy and sick to my stomach, I felt like I was going to faint right there on the spot!

I had been handling something called heulandite....I got really foggy while handling it, and the woman behind the table saw what was happening and she took be to the side and sat me down in a chair, got me some water and handed me some Hematite....she said she was a clairvoyant and that she "saw" that I was getting really ungrounded and ready to go "out of body"!!

Now, never having been "out of body" before, I didn't know what to say, other than "thank you" But as soon as I held the hematite, I felt instantly better and I've never gone near Heulandite again!!!

One time I took delivery of two large aquamarine crystals on a white quartz, smoky quartz and black tourmaline matrix, along with a chunky smoky elestial scepter crystal. They felt great together, so I set them on my dresser before going to sleep. I had never had any issues with stones around me while I slept.

I woke up to intense tidal forces rocking my bedroom energetically! I couldn't believe it. It felt like the ocean was running back and forth through my body and the bedroom. I was unable to sleep for hours, but the experience was so powerful and exciting, I stayed with it.

The two crystals still like to be together, but having let me know who they were and what they were about, they didn't repeat the experience.

I actually had a bad experience with moonstone. I don't remember what I was working with it for but I had slept with it under my pillow. I had the worst headache you can imagine all the next day so I stayed away from it after that. Funnily enough I went into my local metaphysical store today and when you check out they have you reach into a jar and ask the universe to give you what you most need in that moment (this is a free stone) and guess what I pulled out today? Yep... A moonstone.
