Is the King of Pentacles happy?

RubinMarshak

I mean, you would think so, right? He's a king, he's got this massive fortune, he's wearing great gowns over armor, holding a solid gold staff on his giant castle by the sea.
I was looking over this card for almost an hour. He has bulls on his throne, my friend says that symbolizes wealth. I always thought of bulls as more hardheaded, easily angered and potentially dangerous animals.
Also, in the book of Exodus, there was a golden calf created by the Hebrews that was a sign of disbelief and disrespect to both god and Moses, who lead them through a desert.
Also, the plants and vines all around him seem to blend in with his robe. Does that mean he's been rooted in his ways, and is unwilling to change?
The thing that made me look over the card in the first place was his face. His eyes are closed, but his head is tilted towards his castle instead of the sea.
Does this mean he's satisfied with what he has? Is it a symbol of humility? Or is it showing how he's blind to the world and only interested in what he owns?
I know a lot of greedy people. People who are so obsessed with money and their possessions, they're usually really greedy. Greedy people are never satisfied; They always want more. More money, more land, more power.
So, is the king really happy? With his mind on money so much, you'd think he'd want to expand. How could he be satisfied with "great" when he could have "the best"? Tell me what you think on the subject.

i have always conjured up images of the whole pentacle family to be somewhat selfish or disallusioned or maybe just exhausted or bored. like "i have everything i can possibly want but im still not happy...something is missing."

to me the king of pents in rws just looks like a snob.

the queen of pents worries me however, maybe she feels as though her king pays no mind to her.

He seems to have a look of self-satisfaction on his face for the present moment. He has everything he wants for now, but he seems already to be planning his next venture or acquisition.

He looks rather self-absorbed as if his status symbols reflect upon him and support his image of himself. I believe that sort of person may think they're happy and may actually be happy while things are going their way, but take their wealth and they'll be miserable.

The Queen looks like she might be rethinking her attitude toward money. She's looking intently at the Pentacle. She may be wondering if there's more, or she may just be thinking about what to buy next. :)

In a reading, either one could be altered one way or another by their position and surrounding cards.

Is The King Of Pentacles Happy?

He thinks he is happy, totally convinced of it. He is certain that he has everything he needs close at hand. But he clings to the abundance of his material world like vines cling to trees. His face expresses smug self-satisfaction, egocentric attachment to the immediate environment. He has no interest in greater community life, only in the apparent riches surrounding him. He is the essence of our secular selves. Enjoyment, not happiness.

.

I thought that the vines blending into his robes meant he was connected to the earth because pentacles are connected to the earth.

but I also think that your explanation of being rooted in his ways could be another good way of looking at it depending on the question and the cards around him.

Is the king of pentacles happy

He possesses everything, but as Waite states his face is rather dark, the darkness of unhappiness.
Waite also mentions:"somewhat lethargic in tendency".
According to the World English dictionary, one meaning of Lethargic is an abnormal lack of energy, esp as the result of a disease.
The King of Pentacles is dwelling in his wealth. He has no goals anymore, because there is nothing, which he does not possess. He tried everything to find happiness. He did collect cars, he has 40 now. It did not bring the feelings he expected. The work on the antique cars was done by polish men. For them a hobby….it brought at least happiness to them… After they finished those cars back in the beauty of its time, he was only one moment happy, but as soon he did his first drive with the reworked car, he already was not happy anymore. Time for new things, so he started with the surfing in the air. Skipping his job as director in a company in consumer electronics. So he went flying and flying. After lessons he decided it was time to go on camp in the mountains, for flying above them. He booked, went over there, again leaving his company, but the weather was not ok. To much wind. The first day not possible to fly, the second not, and the third was the day of his first trial. Unfortunately he broke his leg, with the first wind blow. Sadness, all around: why does this happen to me? Why me? Why me? Again, it was time for a new challenge. He feels tired, so tired. You can own a lot, nut it also brings a lot of worries. He decided, I want to have a horse, all my kids have one, they look happy, so maybe this 1 PK will bring me what I am looking for. After a big search on the internet he found the best deal possible. He bought the horse and brought it away to a girl, specialist in driving horses. She is doing the first work, she, has now, the friendship of the horse. He is waiting, that after 3 months, in the village, they all will say: Ohh Mr BigMoney, This is really a good horse.. He will be happy for a minute than, and then as soon he feels that moment, it will be gone again.
No goals to run after. Or is he just looking to the wrong goals?
Yes indeed, This is a disease, the disease of wealth. Ok He is the King of Pentacles, Fire of Earth, but he is not connected. Maybe when he finds back the connection to mother Nature he will find liberation in happiness.
