I hope you can make out the words. Between the fancy font and my lack of knowledge, am not able to decipher the writing.

But I do like the minimal design. The 'cards' are so light, it seems like a more delicate parchment in comparison to the hardy Dondorf and larger French decks I have. Even Japanese silkscreened or vellum papers seem thicker and hardier.

I hope to copy these on thicker paper so I can use them...the instructions are very delicate.

List as far as I can tell

The wordlist below may need updating: The document inserted actually has a table of playing cards, the suit/name and the description of the card picture and (card number).

I noticed that the box says "52 cards" or I may be misreading the fonts--but the deck has 32 cards. Also the suit symbols and numbers vary from modern French Lenormand reprints. Since this is supposedly before 1890, the cards may vary from what modern readers expect.

The list below and enclosed attachment is hopefully helpful if you are checking out different decks--this one is from Berlin and said to be from 1870.

Frederich, Sohn, Piatnik are German cartomancy publishers

whose various cartomancy decks in the 19th century have a Lenormand style, but the picure of the six of hearts, for instance, show up as a crocodile here instead of the cross of the Dondorfs circa 1900 thYouat I have .

Christie's auction site and catalogue have examples of more varations.
