Any Gypsies here who use crystal balls with Tarot

Aunty Anthea

As some Gypsies use crystal balls to enhance tarot readings - I gather the recipient has to hold the ball in their hand while the reading is taking place - are there any such Gypsies here because I would love to learn more :)

made me smile to see a shout out specifically for Gypsies :)
what if Non-Gypsies have some experience to share, is that also welcome on this thread.....?

I had Gypsy friends in the past and remember that they used to ask the recipient to hold the Crystal Ball in their right hand if they were left handed and in their left hand if they were right handed, while the cards were being read, I would have thought that would effect the energy of the balls?

My ball swims in sea salt every now and again, charges in the waxing moon and lives in the dark of my biscuit barrel surrendered in silk, I call him Biscuit :)

I feel the energy coming from him surely having other people handle him would upset that energy?

Gypsies also hang a cross above the ball to keep evil away, as I do not particularly believe in evil and am not a pagan I do not bother with such things :)

Nice to hear about your experiences and practices. I have never used a crystal ball so I cannot contribute anything about that, but i do have a fondness for Gypsies which is why your post caught my eye :) Do hope you get some more replies from people soon....

I'm thinking that having the person you were reading for holding the ball might act like some kind of transmitter - you would be reading them, via the ball, as well as the cards.
Just my thoughts.

Nice to meet you

Thank you for your interest :)

Gypsies have strange secrets handed down through families but seldom known by outsiders. I am hoping to learn a few of those secrets ;) They still have their own unwritten language.

I wonder if GotH has seen this thread? GotH is a WONDERFUL crystal ball reader and if she has not yet mixed it with her tarot card readings, she may just do so after seeing this. She knows pretty much everything about reading with them and is always trying new ways to divine also. I will have to point her this thread and see if she can help you.

At risk of being slightly off topic, the term 'Gypsy' is generally considered a slur these days. Rom or Roma (nouns) or Romani (adjective) is a good, respectful way to go for those of us outside the culture unless otherwise guided by specific folks who in fact, are of the culture.

Edited to add: I am in the US and am speaking from that perspective.

Hmmm, i know what you mean, but i didn't even think of it as it seems very obvious that the original poster has good feelings towards the gypsy/roma culture. To me this forum seems a bit outside of cultural norms, e.g. people will talk about being witches here with an understanding that, in this specialist space, that word is taken in the right way. For me it is the same talking about Gypsies: here on aeclectic there is respect and curiosity so it seems to me perfectly acceptable, the word is in no way used with any deroggatory connotations. that's my current POV, would be great to hear others too :)
