"Pimp my Rider!"

Who here does those glitter decks? I forget, I'm sorry! Anyway, I TOTALLY understand the prices. Oy, it's a lot of work. What would be better for a finish - spray acrylic or artist's spray fixative? I've used the fixative in the past on pastel paintings, but I don't remember it leaving a finish that's heavy enough for wear & tear. But then I just used a light coat to control the dust prior to being framed.

I haven't used anything yet that requires any kind of fixative. I've got some chalks that I use in card making occasionally, but card stock would be really inappropriate use for it...hence why I always sample a product on the casino poker deck.

Kissa, it's your thread, you could just post a turnstile at the entry and require a fee to come in and be amused and amazed ~ Gather ye pennies while ye may and then get thee to the 'stuff' store. Do you have the equivalent of dollar stores there? I'm wondering if they have some one dollar polish. The key with the sparkle polish is Really fine glitter. anything else would make bumps, I've used all different kinds on my nails.

Has anyone used PearlX? I've got some in 5 rich jewel colors, but I've never used it anywhere so I'm not too clear how it works.

The dollar store! Dollar General, Dollar Tree...tomorrow. I think I'll just stick with acrylic, since I've used it & I know it works without sticking.

You are a real artist though, I'm just a paint flingin' dabbler. Fools rush in and all that

I love, love, love!! this thread. I envy the artistic talent and ability that people have to just do it and let it flow! I find my self concerned about angles and equilibrium, about exact measurements and placements.

Perhaps, this would be something to consider for when I have more time - and will have a need to decompress after school!? I have a deck or two that I think would benefit greatly from a little pimping....

Like the Witches Tarot - to give those court cards some individuality! Or maybe the Pythagorean to give it some flexibility.

AJ, have you thought about what it means to be an artist nowadays (thinking of the current exhibit at MMA that consists of nothing but models, mostly naked models at that). The act of writing your feelings on those cards is more an act of true art and the mark of a real artist that 99% of all the "stuff" that passes for art. Elements of design aside, art comes from the soul. Art is more than pretty.

Sorry, I'll bow out now. I've had a rant coming on all day and it's trying to get out. I should go write an essay or something and get it out of my system.

So it's not a huge creative pimp...but this made my Pirates tarot infinitely more readable!

I do a lot of pirate themed parties, and shows and events...and I needed a deck, that would compliment the reading with shells bones and jewels that I do.

But the LoS wasn't quite there...with those silly borders and those languages.

So I trimmed each one in a raggedy way, and added brown(latex) paint to the edges.

I thought also of adding coffee or stain...but I kind of like them bright.

They have held up surprisingly well, and are easy to shuffle. I have to count the things on the cards to figure out what the titles are sometimes...but that's really no problem!

ah...latex paint. Something I haven't tried on my sample cards, but I know I have a bronze and copper with me...humm.

If you have a deck you DON'T like that is already in your trade pile start with it, like I did with the Saints. It won't take too many cards to hit your stride and get a feel for what you would like to do with a deck you do love. My glimmer just adds to the beauty of the Anubis Oracle because the Egyptian gods and Pharaohs loved glimmer and glitz...

I'm not sure where you'd begin on a deck the like Place Vampire :)

Is that right? I have never been a "craft-y" person so am a total noob when it comes to this kind of thing but I WANTS to try!!!!! :D

Well, my nail polish isn't coming off, not at all, but I think I'll spray it anway. I have 20 cards done. You just won't believe how pretty it is! Use really tiny dots, thin lines, don't overwhelm it. Not at first anyway...
