Edmund, I was not belittling you, I have no issues with your apparent confusion of what this project actually consists of. As you point out I also admitted I was not clear on all the details. My issue is that despite your apparent lack of clarity you still seemed to know enough to question its worth, that it offers nothing new... and conclude it was just another app and as such not like a "real" deck. Which is really another topic entirely.

You claim that you were merely voicing the questions and concerns of other backers as to why the original campaign had been cancelled. I read through everything in the thread, I didn't get the impression there were any concerns. Nevertheless I preempted any by providing an explanation earlier as to why it was cancelled. It was financially too ambitious in the format originally planned for. I then posted an explanation of how it could be produced differently and at lesser costs. I wasn't aware there were any "concerns" though. At least not prior to your initial post, maybe following that there now are. An unintended consequence no doubt. If that is the case let these other backers that you are speaking for, post for themselves and I will try to respond as honstly as I can to any remaining concerns.

Tarot Reading System on Arkartia

Gregory

There is a reading system built into Arkartia, it uses Chiro's deck ...

"8. The site will also include an exclusive online tarot reading system featuring the Tarot Decoratif by Ciro Marchetti and unique spreads and interpretations by Marcus Katz and Tali Goodwin."

There's a photo of the system in draft on the Kickstarter page!

Yes I read that - but I was comparing the more basic reading facility offered by Tarot4All, which I do think is nowhere near the class of Arkartia. Arkartia will include some reading areas - but that will so much not be ALL it offers.

Talking Happy Dance for Arkartia!

It's going to happen, woohoo!!

We backers surpassed the goal...for someone my age this project seems so futuristic that I never imagined in my lifetime something like this could actually be accomplished; now I get to witness it.

Edmund actually quoted some of the questions in his post - 'In reading about this in various places the one thing that no one can really grasp is just what it is that this site wants to be and what it is that they gain from it. The focus to several, based on the comments, was that: "Askartia, as described seems to be designed with a strong leaning toward marketing and merchandise."
and/or according to one Suberbacker on Kickstarter "I could not understand if this was software or a video game or and online community... as a result I could not determine what exactly I was invited to fund and what I would in true get with it?"

Edmunds's 'claim' is there for you to see in this thread... now, the inital campaign with these questions is gone and we cannot see any resposes or any other questions... I would be curious as to what the answers were ..but again it is gone.

It is reasonable that a project that proposes to be something so new unique and never seen before would generate curiosity - as well as questions from backers as to what their pledge delivers. Asking these questions seems natural and not an attack on anybody.

I do not see how it is snarky or knee-jerky to discuss the aspects of the project which are not appealing to the poster - isnt that the point of being in a forum ...discussing different ideas and opinions? The questions on the original campaign were never answered and were interesting and could have been informative if we would have seen any reply.

Ironically, assuming it is some personality issue seems knee-jerky and doesn't contribute to the discussion of the aspects mentioned for good or bad.

If I was going to pledge money to a campaign I would like to know what all it entailed. Isn't that what this thread is for ?

As a reminder, Aeclectic is a discussion forum. And in discussions, folks don't have to agree with each other. So those with dissenting opinions are welcome to post them at Aeclectic.

As long as this discussion remains respectful and doesn't degenerate any further into personal attacks, it will continue. The topics of this thread are the Kickstarter campaign and/or the Arkatia site itself. All posts from this point on should address those topics and only those topics. No posts have been removed yet, but continued off-topic posts will cause this thread to be pruned.

If you have any questions about this note, please PM me so as no to derail this thread.

Tarot Toy Theatre

The Kickstarter seems to have been a success so far, and they have added an interesting stretch goal, which is based on Pamela Colman Smith's love of 'juvenile theatre'. I'm really interested in stage magic, so like the idea of cardboard theatres :-) Just sayin'.

There's a Youtube video "demo reel" of what they intend to do in order to recreate a cardboard tarot background and cardboard cut-out figures who interact with each other to teach tarot reading.

It's here ... https://youtu.be/d79N22ySxRA

All of this seems pretty interesting to me! I think I've come to explore tarot at a really creative time out there.

In response to an earlier question of what does this project offer apart from the "visual parts" that is genuinely difficult to quantify. I'm not trying to be evasive, it just is. But certainly the "visual parts" are an important factor, indeed i hope they are an integral part of it, other wise i would have wasted a lot of time and effort, and will continue to waste more.
"Visual parts" is pretty much all i can offer to this project but i believe thats also what many people enjoy and regard as part of any overall tarot experience, be that a physical deck or some more contemporary technical exercise. Now thats not to say that everyone will like it, that subjective diversity in artistic style and differing tastes is a given to be expected. But this is my style and its what I do and how i do it. Whatever merits it may or may not have is up to the viewer....

Well, we already know the artwork will be great - we've even seen enough of it to know that. And the labyrinth video is interesting - and not like anything I've seen before.

I can't say I'd exactly expect Ciro to understand - and therefore to be able to explain - the rest of it in detail. Just as I wouldn't expect the highly skilled person who manufactures specialist spare parts to be able to put them in my car when they are needed. I THINK that is a fair analogy - Ciro ?
