Mythic Tarot

Anyone interested in a study group?
If you haven't looked at this pack, or can't remember, it uses the Greek myth stories as the framework, and if you've read any of Liz Greene's astrology books, that will also help and be relevant.

- disregard the comments, which are a little obsessive and irrelevant, if you accept that this pack breaks away from some of the traditions!

:D disregard the whole review. It is silly  It seems more objectionable to this person that the pack breaks away from their interpretation of the traditions, than the real traditions.

Here are some better ones.

I like this deck, and haven't seen much study of it. I'd love to join in. I've been wanting to have another look at his long neglected friend :)

I love this Deck. It is currently my favorite. I "got" tarot with it. Traded it away. Recently got it back. Like getting back an old friend.

I would join in when I could.

I have this deck -- it was one of my first ones -- and haven't had it out in AGES. I'd love to sort of participate from the sidelines in a study group.

Yay, well that makes 4.
I'll watch this thread for a day or two, to see if anyone else comes here.

And maybe a mod will come by and tell me what happens next! - does the study just carry on in this same thread?

I got this deck last summer and all of a sudden ---- I understood!

I love this deck and I would love to participate in a study group.

I have 3 different copies of that deck. Now, I think I could put them to use! lol!
And it would be fun to study a deck with a mythic theme.

3 different copies!! Which copies have you got? Are they different, or the same?

I have the one with the purple backs with the 4 suit emblems on them.

The original one had the same design on a black back.

I saw a new version the other day, which is still purple, but the design has been replaced by a checked border, so the cards are reversable now.

Guess they can't make up their minds which back they like. Or maybe too many people complained that the deck was not reversable.

OK well that's 6 people now which I reckon is a decent number for a group. And of course anyone else can join in, when they see how much fun we're having :)

To begin with, maybe to get a 'feel' for each other, we could discuss briefly why this pack attracts - before we get into the cards and their meanings.

I was introduced to Greek myth when I was a boy, with my Dad reading me Jason and the Argonauts. I dont actually remember the scenario, but I do remember that's the way it happened. Then I bought a few simplified story-books, and really enjoyed them. "Are you reading up there? Get to sleep! " "Hehe...OK Mum". And I would carry on reading, under the bedclothes, because it was a great story!

More recently I've read some of Liz Greene's books, and I like her Jungian astrology. And when I looked at these cards....first, I found them artistically beautiful, which is important to me, and then secondly, they were symbolising those old, archetypal Greek tales and suggesting they have great psychological value. I agree - I think they do, and that's why the stories have survived, and continue to influence us, and provide story-lines for blockbuster movies ;-)

I like Greek Myth. Not studied it though. I dont find the illustrations fabulous. I dont know whY i exactly liked this deck to begin with. I just know I LOVE IT now. I do think maybe the Greek Stories with the book do help with the meanings.
