PUB THREAD! Beltaine/Halloween Trade Train 2015

This is the Trade Train pub thread!

Here we sit at the bar, musing over our drinks and sharing our bowls of snacks. Here we talk about the Trade Train to come before fit rolls out. Here we talk about the trade train that has just been.

Here we will, crucially, sign up for the thread, and I will list participants in the post following this one.

IMPORTANT! You may have a person from anywhere in the world choose one of your decks. You will be obliged to mail it to them at your expense. If you think you cannot afford this, perhaps now is not a good time to join a trade train.

We are running a slow train this time around. How a slow train works is this:

All those who sign up will take part. This commits you to put up a "station" when it is your turn, a station being a post where you offer at the very least one Tarot deck, preferably more, for others to choose from. The first person who says on the train thread (which I will open on the day) that they take one of your offerings, then you are committed to sending that offering to them, and nobody else may choose from your list. 24 hours after each station, we will move onto the next station, in the order I determine by the ancient, venerable method of the Pieces Of Paper Pulled From My Hat oracle, and the same thing happens again.

In order for the trade train to be a success. we will each form a station with our offerings, and we sill each choose ONE offering from ONE station only. It is recommended that you don't wait too long: the "perfect deck" is unlikely to come up, so think about choosing a deck that you wouldn't have gone out and bought without the trade train. I know I have picked up some interesting decks that I would never have chosen to buy, grabbing early in the train. You get the idea.

Offerings that are acceptable at your station:

Tarot. It is a Tarot trade train, after all. Please try to offer at least one Tarot deck. Lenormands and oracle decks have been offered in the past, but only at stations where at least one Tarot deck has been offered. We are actively discouraged from offering books (except companion-books with decks), clothing, jewellery, bags etc. It is not a giftware train no matter how lovely your giftware: it is a Tarot train.

So.

The pub is open: the first round of drinks is on me. Enjoy! <slaps some money on the bar>

Oh, yes. And the train will be rolling out of the first station (which won't be mine) on 28th October, in time for Beltaine in the south and Halloween in the north. Stations will be arranged by lot: please indicate if you are willing to be the first or last station in the train.

We will be leaving at crack-on 10.00pm GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), being that that is a semi-convenient time slot for various of our members. It is fairly easy to ascertain where your local time stands in relation to GMT.

<nods> Ladies. You're just in time - I happen to have poured a banana daiquiri and a tequila sunset - which is for which of you?

<promptly> Done.

And how about a platter of nibblies to share? Or are you all going to leave early and sort your luggage for our impending journey? <slightly insane grin>
