Book of Law Study Group 1.6

This line is especially interesting to me. Aiwass/Nuit is asking the reader to recognize that they are a part of her, and thus Hadit. Hadit being the secret centre of the heart (the point in the middle).

The part that is especially interesting to me is that she describes Hadit as her tongue. This would reinforce what we've discussed previously about Hadit being the manifestation of Nuit, the tongue being an organ of expression and revelation. In part, I read it again as a call to evangelism.

But most interesting to me, in Chinese Medicine the tongue is seen as the flowering of the Heart. In a way the physical tongue is seen as continuous with the physical heart. The Heart contains the Shen, the ruler of the 5 spiritual parts of us (one for each element, of which there are 5 in Chinese medicine). The Shen is the Fire spirit and one of the ways it expresses itself is through speech (the tongue).

Its associated with the planet Mars, which for me then links the Tongue/Heart/Hadit/Horus, back to the Tower//Mars/Mouth/Peh/Ra-Hoor-Kuit/Horus, as a card of revelation. The Father and Son, the Tongue and the Mouth.

I have a hard time reconciling evangelism with Do what thou wilt. Help me out here. What would a call to evangelism entail? Getting excited? Spreading the word? Knocking on doors?
Or helping out stubborn new comers with a lot of questions.:| :D

I didn't read any commentaries and got simply, speaking from the heart. But this is far more interesting.

haha yes, yeah well I think the evangelism we are familiar with is more like "do what I say", or perhaps "donate the figure I suggest" }) But there have been two lines so far that we've looked at, that seem to be a call to spread the word. Addressed to Crowley this could be read as "publish the book", but addressed to us, perhaps a call to door knock  Or something a little more dignified.

I didn't read any commentaries and got simply, speaking from the heart. But this is far more interesting.

I've also decided to avoid reading the commentaries until after I've had a think about it for myself. I quite like the idea of speaking from the heart, I think it echo's my own thoughts based on Chinese Medicine class. The Heart is the organ where Joy lives in TCM, so to speak from your heart is to talk of the things that make you Joyful.

Liber CCC - Khabs am Pekht.
http://www.hermetic.com/crowley/libers/lib300.html

Description:
A special instruction for the Promulgation of the Law. This is the first and most important duty of every aspirant of whatever grade. It builds up in him the character and Karma which forms the Spine of Attainment.
Liber CCC is a formal epistle from Crowley to Frater Achad (Charles Stansfeld Jones) concerning the promulgation of Thelema. It is written from the perspective of the mission of the OTO, which is a temporal order (not magical). Despite this it does have a wider and more general meaning beyond the OTO. This is evidently what Crowley thought when he made the epistle an official Liber.

An interesting side point about this Liber is the insight it gives us into Crowley's veiw of Liber Legis around 1915/1916. It's quite clear that, at that time, he was expecting confirmation of Liber Legis through actual events.

The verb "be"
live, obtain, occupy, attend, escort

Coming back to the question for me: What do we DO?

The tongue: Taste
synonyms- sip, nibble, savor; perceive, discern, discriminate

Remember those science class experiments where they had you try to "trick" your tongue by placing non-corresponding flavors on specific areas? How about the way you lay out different seasonings and fruits for a meal where each "stage" enhances the round of flavors?

some phrases related to the heart:
after one's own heart- fits the bill
have one's heart set on- willing to do anything for
set one's heart against- oppose/resist

Verse 6 is clearly a Tiphareth themed verse. There's much here that speaks directly of Union. The heart is an obvious symbol of the solar centre, but so is the tongue. The two interlacing triangles of the solar hexagram are tongues. (see The Book of Lies, chp.69)

Secret centre? Well secret in Hebrew is SVD, and it's value is 70 - Ayin the secret Eye. A possible link to the phallic symbolism of the Devil. Hadit is the point within the circle of Nuit. The eternal lovers that create the universe.
It is further to be remarked that the Tree pierces the heavens; about it is indicated the ring of the body of Nuith.

The Devil ~ The Book of Thoth p.106
The word tongue also brings to my mind the little striker within a bell, which is literally known as a tongue. It is that small point inside the circle of the bell that, when it strikes (unites with) the bell, creates sound.

This makes it very clear and specific. Explains the greetings. It gives me more of the idea of attraction rather than promotion. Or rater there is no promotion without attraction.

Yes, now I am getting a feel of opening your heart, or voice, sharing. Something more active.

I like this too.

Yep, I felt "secret center" implied an intimacy.

9 out of 10 people will probably think you're crazy if you greet them with, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law". But one person might ask, "what does that mean?" It may be nothing more than idle curiosity that leads to nothing, but it may turn out to be something more.

That approach is a heck of a lot different to the usual form of evangelising where you get a message rammed down your throat whether you want to hear it or not.

I guess I'm still hiding under a bushal. :| But living in a rural fundy town I guess it might at serve to quite some for a while. }) As I run from the stones.
Perhaps I haven't been kindled enough yet. But there is hope for this greenie. I've decided to start practicing on people with no, or smaller stones.

Love is the law, love under will.
