Developing abilities?

Just wondered if any one had any tips or advice on what I can do to try to develop my psychic abilities?

I feel pretty shut off at the moment and would really like to develop them.

Can i ask what you have done in the past or what did you do when your psychic side was good. Have you stopped meditating for instance?
