The Portland Tarot

gregory

Hey, Gregory! Thanks! Here's a direct link to The Portland Tarot site: http://theportlandtarot.com/

Under "The Cards," there's a drop-down that will take you to a place to purchase.

And then you click buy now - and.... a page with a pic of the deck and no way to continue.

I need to email her anyway as I am out of country - so I can get around it that way...

Hey, Gregory. I just went to the site and was able to order. I'm going to tell you the steps I took to see if they work for you, okay?

Go to homepage: http://theportlandtarot.com/
Hover over "The Cards"
Pick/click last item: "Buy the Major Arcana Deck"
Find BIG blue bar on left side of page that says: "Buy the Major Arcana Deck Now!"
Click BIG blue bar (LOL!)
Takes you to a page with and "Add to Cart" bar
Click "Add to Cart"
Then "Go to Cart"
Then "Check Out"
Choose "Check Out as Guest" (unless you have a Square Account)

Let me know if this helps, okay?

I did all that up to Buy the Major Arcana deck. Then I just get a page with a pic of the deck, that says it costs $20, with no bars even of any kind.

No big blue bar, no add to basket, no checkout as guest, no nuttin.

(Trust me, I am good at buying online :D)

But it doesn't matter - as I have to email her anyway, being outside the US, and I have done.

ETA we have established that it does it on purpose as only US residents can buy directly without emailing, since overseas postage is extra. Theresa is delighted :D

The Portland Tarot is heading to 2nd Edition!

After a wonderfully successful sell-out of The Portland Tarot's 1st edition--Majors only--PT creator Theresa Pridemore is preparing to print a 2nd edition. She's going tweak (Read: "make even more amazing"!) all the cards and completely reimagine the 23rd card, "The Weird."

This is such a fresh, colorful, wonderfully reimagined deck. Extremely readable, even with just the Majors. And there are some really nice spreads in the LWB.

For the new edition, there will be a much-expanded LWB that will include the super-interesting stories about the making of each card--including the reasons certain people were included as the cards' subjects.

There's a lot of interesting information--AND excellent full-size images of the 1st edition of every card--here at The Portland Tarot's indiegogo page: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-portland-tarot-major-arcana-deck/x/4725167

I was a backer of the 78 card one, and so was offered the chance to buy the majors only + 1 version. I do like it - and the cards are - BIG !

I wish she hadn't gone indiegogo; I would run with kickstarter again, but I'm not happy with indiegogo. I don't like the

bit. I have actually watched it happen that something didn't make its goal - and nothing ever happened, and investors simply lost out. Which leaves them unwilling to invest in another. I MUCH prefer the kickstarter way - when you get the money when the goal is reached - then you have the funds to complete the project, rather than leaving it half cocked - unable to be completed and no good to you or them. It's not a mater of trust as such - but OK - you get half your money, you have a project half done - and you have no more cash. What do you do ?

Now in her case I am sure it will be fine - as with Kickstarter she did produce decks for those who had backed her and sold them to us individually, I don't need to back this one, as I have the deck - but I wish she'd done that.

That's interesting, Gregory. Thanks for the thoughts on indiegogo. I don't know much about either of these strategies, but find the process fascinating!
