Bohemian Gothic-The Hermit

RiverRunsDeep

A very scary card, but once again, I think it give an added layer to the Hermit that most decks don't have. The light shines on him, and reveals more about him than about anything else. When you lift your lantern to go seeking something, what you most illuminate with your search is your own self. Most especially your own darkest desires.

I love this interpretation!

I think this card amplifies the isolation of the Hermit. It warns of the dark
and scary places our minds can take us when we slide too far into a state
of being alone: the recluse, the loner, the teenager who stays locked in
their bedroom day and night. The forest in the background symbolizes
the barrier the Hermit keeps between himself and the rest of the world.
And the closer trees indicate how that barrier is becoming taller and more
dense. Everyone needs a bit of alone time, but the danger occurs when it
is to the exclusion of everything and everyone else.
