Cups - the wanderer off on his questionable quest has been replaced by a young man with a suitcase boarding an airplane, and waving to a mature couple on the ground ( - a liitle old looking for a child this young!). The father and mother wave bravely, but cling to each other as they watch their adult child depart from them. LWB: "Moving on. Leaving behind a person, situation, or a part of yourself." The nice part about this card is the inclusion of the figures in the foreground, adding the dimension of 'someone can be leaving you,' whereas the RWS gives you the impression that 'you will be doing the leaving.' (Maybe more deck creators should look at that aspect of something besides a single, central figure for every card? Hmmmmm...) Very poignant moment, beautifully captured.
Coins - Usually the card of he Apprentice, indicating a need to learn more, this card transforms the apprentice into the ... masterbuilder, Lee? Or has it taken this apperentice an entire lifetime to learn a trade? Since the LWB talks of both 'Skill & Mastery' and 'Slow and methodical progress' it seems that we can read whatever we need into this card, based on the questions asked.
Swords - one of the best cards IMHO! Gone is that poor woman with the blidfolds and the swords that look like prison bars routine. A young man stands forlornly on a subway car, eyes down. There is no interrelation to any of the people on the car. Everyone is lost in their own thoughts and in their private little worlds to notice this sad young man. In a way it's a perfect concept of isolation in the midst of a crowd. After all, you can't go anywhere else except where the subway car takes you; you can either get on or get off at the next stop but not inbetween. LWB: "Restriction. Feeling lonely in a crowd. Being trapped ..." A most excellent reworking of an old card.
