Hi Shalott and ihcoyc; I've been away for a week and only just saw this now. I should have explained before, my name is in Irish which is one of two types of Gaelic (Scots Gaidhlig is the other), and Gaelic along with Breton, Welsh, Cornish and Manx, is part of the Celtic languages group. Irish now uses the same alphabet as English (with some differences - there's no j, k or z for example) but with a very different pronunciation system. There are some subtleties, but once you get a grasp of it it's reasonably regular.
