Tarot Trimming Tools-- Rotary Cutter & Corner Rounder

FaireMaiden

I found two fabulous tools for trimming one's tarot decks.

The first is a Fiskars 12-inch Rotary Trimmer... #12-9908. It sells at Michaels for $39-bucks, (cheaper if you've got a coupon for them), or can be got at Amazon for $31-and-change plus free-shipping.

The next great tool is a Corner Rounder that I found also at Amazon. It's called an 'Angle Eater'. It's 'rounding-size' is 'Small'-- 5mm-- and works like a charm! I wrote a Review of it over there. It's $5-bucks plus shipping, (it's not available for free-shipping as it's sold by SuperMart). It's the 'Green' one only! The Red and Orange ones are too big... up to 10mm and will eat too much corner!

'Angle-eater' upside down showing compartment that holds trimmed corner scraps til you pop the lid and dump them out... a real plus!: http://tinyurl.com/2f8vu92

Wow! Thank you so much for this post. Last night I saw a youtube video of someone who had trimmed the Druidcraft tarot. It looks like a wonderful deck and I would seriously consider trimming it because I dont like such large decks. I have never trimmed a deck before and wondered what tools I would need. You totally answered my questions, including work in progress pics! Thank you.

Talking about trimming tools, someone (I think it may have been Le Fanu) suggested that you need to get huge scissors in order to do the sides in a single "bite".

I was wondering whether anyone has tried using a stanley-knife and running it along the edge of a ruler, or something like that for the long-cuts.

wow, thanks for the research FaireMaiden. I have been wanting to trim but everyone seems to say 'scissors' and I know what would happen if I did it that way!

Thanks for posting that. I've been wondering which corner rounder to get. It's nice to have a tarot-specific review out there.

Superbly helpful.

I would never ever dare to use scissors or a cutter, so I had my few decks trimmed at a local printers, on a big machine that cuts a thousands pages at a time.

Then used a corner rounder, and the result was excellent.

Your trimmed/cornered cards look very smart, indeed, FaireMaiden! Great work!

That Fiskar's rotary trimmer costs around $30+ and takes for ages to cut a deck.

The printer's cutting machine took about 5 minutes to cut one deck and cost me just a few $ and every card was exactly the same width and length, 100% precise.
