An Arthur Rackham deck would have been perfect...

Definitely Arthur Rackham. I really wish he'd created one.

And Beatrix Potter. Not something put together with scenes from her illustrations but a whole tarot set created by her.

And Harry Hargreaves.

And many many others.

Phineas

Boris Vallejo

Boris Vallejo.
If you don't know who he is do a Google image search on the name, I guarantee you will recognize his work when you see it

shaveling

As always, Alison Bechdel.

Bhavana

Frida Kahlo and Dr Seuss.

I keep saying this - Alan Lee. Preferably a Lord of the Rings deck :D

Chiriku

I have always been very drawn to sophisticated children's and Young Adult literature illustrations, as exemplified by artists like the prolific, versatile and widely admired Leo and Diane Dillon.

Their work is quite diverse in style, but for a tarot deck, I'd like to see the stylized beauty exemplified by the cover art for THE WORLD'S END, OF LOVE AND SHADOWS, AIDA, and ASHANTI TO ZULU (all included in the first link).

Zephyros

Also John Tenniel, and Gustave Doré. I know there is a bible tarot based on his drawings, but it would have been cool had he made an original one. And Mark Chagall. There is a deck based on his work as well, but I don't think that he painted it either.

Damn, there are just so many. Kadishman could have an interesting take on Tarot as well. And a John Howe Lord of the Rings deck.

I was going to say Alan Lee, like I always do when this kind of threads show up.
But I agree with stellar4, a deck by Banksy would be cool !
