BEST "DARK" DECK EVER - OPINIONS PLEASE :-)

G6

Hello Folks! I want to get the most amazing general "dark" deck ever! Would love your opinions and also if you know of any pocket or mini "dark" decks besides Royo Dark?

Here are the ones I am most interested in so far online:

Dark Grimoire

Alchemy 1977 England Tarot

Night Sun

Lastly: The Gothic and Bohemian Gothic Tarot look cool, but I'm not sure.

I also like, but these seem more specific and therefore later purchases: Tarot of the Vampyres, The Vampire Tarot by Robert M. Place, Vampire Tarot Deck by Nathalie Hertz and Zombie Tarot

Thanks for your input/opinions on the most amazing general "dark" deck ever and also any pocket or mini "dark' decks you might share! Thanks!!!

Define "dark" please. I don't have any decks I really consider "dark" although some probably think of the Bohemian Gothic and Place's Vampire Tarot as dark.

Do you mean scary? Gothic?

I don't like overtly (as in trying too hard to look scary or evil) dark decks. I like ones that just have a kind of "night" vibe and the Bohemian Gothic and Place's Vampire Tarot fill that spot in my collection.

I suggest you look at scans at any decks you mentioned or others mention, and see what speaks to you in the language you wish it to. There are certainly a lot to choose from :).

May you find the deck or decks perfect for you.

I highly recommend:

Deck of the Bastard
Samhain Deck of the Bastard
Deck of the Dead

All of these amazing decks are by Seven Stars. The Deck of the Dead comes in a pocket size. For me, all three of these are dark in a chills-down-your-spine, stormy night, haunted house kind of way.

Thanks, greatdane! By "dark" I mean imagery that is more suited for dark questions/topics people might ask. More for mood and feeling/insight into those types of Q's.

I did see the Deck of the Bastard before now that I think of it. Thanks for the reminder! Too bad they all don't have the option of pocket size that would be awesome!

The only deck that I can speak for is the Alchemy 1977 England Tarot.
Its my first and only so far.
When I saw it something clicked and it meshed well with me - maybe cause I've always loved Alchemy artwork, and fantasy art in general.

It may surprise you going beyond dark readings.

Unicorn Bacon

The Book of Azathoth

Giger

But really. You're not going to cover your bases for everyone's shadow work with 1-2 decks. Some people will lean toward the above. Some may lean toward something like this

Some might not have a preference at all and find such cards completely shallow. Learn how to stretch a deck beyond it's capability; the world is your oyster instead of the oyster is your world.

Wow, thanks! I have not seen any of those decks before. Looks like the Giger one is trumps only and out of print or just expensive $100, but it does fit the bill. :)

And, right, any deck can answer any question it is just window dressing. Paz! :)

I am guessing Unicorns and Bacon are your two favorite things in the world? Good choices.

I would have to say Diary of a Broken Soul.

Let's put it this way - you would not partner it with a Doreen Virtue tarot to do a double-deck reading.

It hits hard. It has imagery that may cause discomfort. But it does cause us o look at the shadows we have within, our attitudes and judgements can be bought to the fore where we feel uncomfortable.

I love it to bits. This and Darkana are my only two 'dark' decks. Latter has the twisted humour to go with it at times.
