"The Star" ~~ Majors only deck by Cathy McClelland

A couple of autumns ago, I was lucky enough to spend
a long weekend on Lake Tahoe's northern shore.
Strolling through Tahoe City, our little group came upon
a wonderful art gallery that was showing the work of a local
artist, Cathy McClelland.

Gorgeous prints and lovely greeting
cards were available for sale, but no deck at that time.
Periodically checking her website, I was THRILLED to find a majors
only deck is now in print and I ordered it last week.
They arrived today (!!!) and are BEAUTIFUL!!

They are oversized and on thin cardstock, so reading with them
will be done carefully!!! but the artwork and accompanying
book are amazing!! My personal favorites are the HP, Wheel and Star,
but I love them all! And Tarot is just one part of her work!

wow they are GORGEOUS!
but whilst I admire the art, I dont feel that I could read with it. I've trying to whittle down my collection to a reading collection rather than an art one, but I just cant stop looking at this deck now i've seen it.

Such a shame the cards are on thin cardstock! They deserve something far more substantial.

I love it, a wonderful deck ........ especially that World card. I agree with Inana, they deserve something more hardy! One for the wishlist me thinks (esp after seeing those horses on the Chariot card)

This tarot is so oustandingly beautifull,
This is one of the most beautifull and interesting one I have seen.
I was enchaned by the images so pure and so strong.

I wonder if the artist intend to do a full deck? I know it is a strenous work, but one can dream can't I...

i just ordered this gorgeous deck and Cathy and i have been emailing each other quite a bit. i asked her if she planned on doing the minor arcana, etc. and she said that "yes"! later on this year she plans to begin. i am ecstatic! Her art gives me goose bumps and deep pangs of a Cosmic familiarity...

I like the death card with the Phoenix rising on it, nice image. I don't get a lot of the symbology on the cards though. Which is my defect, not the artists.

Yes! AJ! Yes! The "Death" card is my very favorite! It is one of Cathy's (the artist) also!

Oh! I'm SO tickled that others are
enjoying Cathy's art as much as I do...
Isn't she amazingly talented?

I'm looking very forward to her 78-card deck...
no matter how long it takes, it's worth the wait!

I'm debating whether or not to round the corners
on my copy of her majors-only, to make them a
little easier to use...
any thoughts??
