8 of Cups: Moving away from some sort of situation. Not liking exactly where they are and wanting to make some changes. Moving on from regret or disappointment.

King of Cups: Emotional balance and stability.

So... making a change to move on in homes to gain greater emotional balance and happiness for one's self, perhaps.

8 Cups as a situation... moving away from emotional overload, letting go. To me it's a lot about emotional priorities, taking away what is good or what is right for you and leaving what isn't behind.

King Cups is having the maturity and being able to distance oneself from those emotional ties, not being unfeeling, but not allowing emotions to govern your behavior. The King still cares but isn't going to be overwhelmed or driven by his feelings. He can be pragmatic and supportive. Maybe it's putting your foot down, saying enough is enough and walking away from situations that are no longer emotionally fulfilling.

Perfect explanation. :)

Another way to look at the Eight of Cups crossed by the King of Cups is that the King is either helping or hindering the movement of the Eight of Cups. In other words, someone is leaving an emotional relationship (both cards are emotional Cups) and is either being helped by the fact that he or she has mastered the emotional aspect of it, yet feels there still might be a better relationship for him/her "out there" somewhere. OR s/he is leaving the relationship under the advice or urging of someone else s/he has a strong emotional bond with.

In other words, the person might be leaving the King of Cups behind because s/he is looking for someone better...or s/he may be leaving because s/he has already found someone better. The rest of the cards will tell you which one fits.

The king has the cup that is missing from the top row of the eight of cups. Once you find that king, whether it be another person or a part of you, then you will have the nine of cups.
