Aura Soma Tarot

Siavahda

I recently came across one of Ethony's videos about this deck and immediately fell in love with it. Has anyone here worked with it? What's it like to read with? I don't know anything about the Aura Soma system; what's with all the little bottles?

And perhaps most importantly; does anyone know where I can find a copy? It doesn't seem to be for sale on Amazon...

Hello

I haven't seen the deck in person nor worked with it, though it has interested me after seeing images through Ethony and Elyse's YT channel. She briefly shows the deck in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS1NuHW-nXo

I'm pretty sure this is the source for purchasing the deck itself: http://www.grail.co.nz/shop/tarot-goddess-decks/aura-soma-new-aeon-tarot-deck/

I assume prices are in New Zealand dollars. There is a book too.

From my research, there seems to have been an older deck which is OOP called the Aura Soma tarot too.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! Now I'll have to see if she ships to Europe... But how confusing, that there's two decks with the same name. I'll have to be careful not to grab the wrong one!

I have the older one by Mike Booth and Vicki Walls published by Aquamarin

The artist of that is selling it here - I could be so RICH....

- and I - don't find it easy. It's based on a system that utilizes bottles of scented, coloured oils and waters. According to my database:
The deck has cards corresponding to the usual 78 cards, with traditional symbols in evidence. However, additional cards have been added so that each Aura Soma bottle has a corresponding card. Some of these extra cards have been used to create a second Major Arcana - without the Fool, because there are two Fools in the first set, numbered zero and 22. The meanings between the different versions vary according to the colour (and the oil associated with) each card.

It's part of a "colour care system." http://www.aura-soma.net/about

I'll be interested to see how different this one is...

Thanks Gregory. Good to hear that it isn't OOP!

You're welcome Siavahda, I've been considering it for the collection too :)

I had a chance to see and play with this deck as I purchased it for a friend as a present.

For starters- it is beautiful, exceptionally beautiful- the colors are rich and the card stock is pretty sturdy. It is a massive deck with all the extra cards- so shuffling is a bit of a challenge- but she brings an interesting concept to the table where the second set of majors is basically the "ascended" person who has finished the path of the initial major arcana and is working toward a higher spiritual goal- past the worldly and into the more divine path.

I remember the court cards being ascended masters. The additional majors made sense in the scheme of things when reading the book- which is definitely something to consider as it really helps with this deck. I don't think you would get as much out of it without having the book for reference- especially for the extra cards. Overall the deck is gorgeous and well put together. It has held up to use and I know he still uses it frequently- which is important given the cost.

Hope that helps some!

I absolutely adore the idea of a second set of majors! I'd love to see that motif used more often, in more decks.

But yes, this was helpful, thank you!
