Why a lower case "a" at the beginning of aLGMOR ?

Is that a supposed to be a letter G in there? I've seen suggestions that it's a phonetic G.

The X. Is it a letter? A multiplication symbol? Or something else? Crowley writes the letter differently in other places.

If you look at the text's "holes" on this page 42 between death and Death in verse 73 and between glory and He in verse 74, they seem to stress some dots:

If you keep on counting, 1-2-check, one dot, two dots, looking for the third, and follow the line drawn by the free space you come to numbers:
1, 2, many.
Keep on going, and you have O V A,
whatever that means.
English order and value gives 15 + 22 + 1 = 38 which leads to e.g. לח, via VII + VIII to 78, which is fair enough.

... which, by all this 1-2, 1-2-3, makes you look for the C; A+B=C as 1 + 2 = 3; K as one replacement for C stabilizes (the other one, as we know, would be H).
By all this, AB K might result either in "C(K)" overall, or the word "BACK"

It might also be a highly distorted "I" or "H". Somehow the letter reminds me of the shape of the Enochian "H", so I would go for that.

On one of those levels, as 4 x 6 = 24 and 3 x 8 = 24, it is multiplication. But if you look at the 24 upside down, you have a For, as you have a 58 for the 89.
Plus you have some kind of mirroring here:
The sequence 46 could be seen as IV <-> VI, as 3 is the half of 8, which is completed, if you put a mirror to it's left.

But as it is, this tells more about how my mind works than anything else. ;)

1)) If the intention was to communicate: “To Seven Six” we might consider the path of Saturn’s return upon the Tree to complete a matrix for the vesica piscis: ♁ ♄---☽--------->♊------->1 1 ∙

2)) Opening the ‘Eye’ of Illumination - or, perhaps, the ‘second coming’ if wanna get Gnostic about it. 'Magnum opus' has been a perennial favorite, though there is a certain rationale for calling it the 'Yoga of the West' as well.

3)) That is One way of looking with it. I find enormous instructive value in studying the diagram in question and reconsidering Basilius Valentinus’ backronym: V.I.T.R.I.O.L.

4)) The ratio 8:3 an octave +perfect fourth up from root, while 3:8 is an octave -perfect fifth down from root.

5)) Saturn returns when Time comes full cycle - viewed across a ‘turn of the Wheel’ (exeligmos). In allegory- the components of a myth reckoned as a whole, rather than sequentially linear. Much like the mandalic function of the early alphabets.

Athena ♎ comforts the Centaur, Kheiron ♐ suffering a wound by Herakles’ arrow. The same aimed at Draco, the dragon Ladon [‘Strong Flow’] who guards Hera’s orchard of golden apples. The events may occur during different tasks among Herakles many labors, but they all describe movement within a matrix of symbols... of which the integration of Tarot & the Qabalah Tree is a most refined distillation.

Lacking a tradition that could be substantially characterized as an English Qabalah, and thus a lineage imparting any kind of symbolic lore or number magic specific to the English Letters, the riddle posed by Law ♊.76 seems to make use of an almost childlike play of number-letter substitution, digital root, and conundrum to communicate various patterns and movements through this Pythagorean ænigma.

One which has to do with a specific problem in music theory raised by the disparity between 12 perfect fifths and 7 octaves in Pythagorean Tuning. In a system of equal temperament the disparity is subtracted in equal portions from each of the twelve perfect fifths (-.017...). Thus creating an equal-tempered fifth (¹²√2)⁷ which allows One to modulate freely between keys and compose poly-harmonic music without the howling of wolves. However, this poses a problem for the Pythagorean system as each interval is defined by an irrational number instead of simple number ratios. Supposedly, the discovery of incommensurate numbers posed a serious problem for the Greek mathematician-philosophers until they grasped the concept of magnitude. Yet, it is precisely this distinction between the rational & the irrational that is at the heart of Pythagorean teaching.

Examining the parallels between arithmetic, geometry, music theory, and astronomy reveals this.

“We are thus faced with the fact that there is no end to this process we have initiated: transposition up a fifth and transposition down a fifth take us on infinite journeys, ever generating new notes, even if some of these... are tantalizingly close.
