A huge gothic church dominates the backdrop of this card and the glow of the church illuminates the priest.

Is his robe red? Or is it the glow of the church which makes it appear to be red? I think it is red because red is the color of power and represents very important people.

Notice how the lenght of the cathedral seems to go on and on in the background.

This card is interesting because the Hierophant seem so lonely...usually, this card depicts the character as an outspoken form of authority. It's a good characterization of the lonliness and responsibility really associated with such a position.

I've had this card sitting on my keyboard for several day...nothing profound really ever spoke out to me, but I wonder what bothers him so and what is the real significance of him standing outside the cathedral....

He also looks like he is turning his back on the church That he is trying to make a very important decision and doen't know which way to turn. He seems to be in very deep thought.
