Printing-year of the BN specimen of the 1760 TdM Conver deck (Héron)

Rusty Neon

Given the recent discussions on another thread placing the printing-year of the Lo Scabareo deck's 1760 Conver plate specimen deck as sometime in the 1800s, I was wondering what year the Bibliothèque Nationale specimen of the 1760 Conver plate deck (photoreproduced by Héron) was printed in.

Thanks!

Hi Rusty! :)
The following is the chronological table of CONVER tarot
Mr Depaulis gave me:

*******************************

CONVER, Nicolas : 1760-1803
CONVER, widow of Nicolas : 1807 (according to D'Allmagne.)
CONVER, Mathieu : 1801-1829 (according to D'Allmagne.)

( a gap : namely, an unclear period.)

LEVENCQ brothers : 1850-1858
LEVENCQ de CONVER : 1858-1862
LEVENCQ de CONVER-CAMOIN & Cie : 1862-1871 (Levencq de Conver and Camoin in partnership)
CAMOIN, Jean-Baptiste : 1871-1876 (J.-B. Camoin sole owner)
CAMOIN, J.-B. (= Antoine and Joseph Camoin, J.-B.'s sons) : 1876-1886
CAMOIN & Cie, A. (= Antoine Camoin) : 1886- ?
CAMOIN-MARTIN-GABELLE & Cie : until 1970

************************************

In addition, he says the caption "CONVER" "FRANCE" (on VALET
DE BATON) became statutory from 1808.

So, the BN conver should have been made after 1808:
and, supposedly, by 1829 ...??

Kenji .... Thanks for the information. It's good to finally have some idea of printing-year. I'm now pining for scans of a Conver deck (if such exists) printed before the BN specimen. :) I'm surprised that the BN never managed to acquire a deck older than that specimen.

Older than the BN specimen...
Don't forget the "Miike-Conver"! ;)
(Only 9 cards, though.)

kenji ...

(1) What's your guess on the printing-year of the Miike-Conver?

(2) I can't recall the colour scheme of the Miike-Conver. Is it along the lines of the Héron Conver or along the lines of the Lo Scarabeo Conver?

Thanks!

Hi Rusty:)

(1) Mr Depaulis says that Miike cards should have been printed
in the 18th century.
I think, too, they were probably made by around 1800.

(2) They look quite similar to the BN specimen (=Heron Conver).
Well, I'm going to PM you to give you the new URL for the
pictures of Miike-Conver;)
