Poll Results: Best Decks of 2012 and All Time

Richard

Well, if DV sells, I suppose that's about all that is required in a capitalistic system.

As much as I am in favor of socialism, the extremists might be inclined toward abolishing Tarot altogether, and that ain't so good either.

Actually under TRUE socialism it wouldn't be an issue, as everyone would be guaranteed a basic income, so those who weren't out just to get rich could stock whatever they liked and still have enough to eat at night :D

Thank you for conducting this poll, closrapexa. :)

Hopefully in future polls the historic decks can already have each "won" a spot in their respective "Hall of Fame" categories, so that it would be redundant to vote for them.

I find it more intriguing to see what modern decks people are reading with. (The criteria for Best of All Time was not specified, but in Solandia's poll, it is listed as your "favorite" deck in both categories.)

Maybe some thought can be given to "Hall of Fame" classifications for historical decks, or as an alternative, voting categories for them, if this poll is conducted again.

Indeed! You be someone who understands the concept! :D (I hope Homeland Security isn't monitering this exchange. :()

I have read my William Morris :) and heaps more. I once started writing a book on Utopianism but - didn't finish it. I did get an article published though !

Thank you very much closrapexa for this poll and all the statistic data! I appreciate it very much!

These results make sense to me. I voted for Daniloff because I consider it an outstanding deck, but Mary-el is unique and beautiful too, and deserves the recognition in my view.
RWS and Thoth serve as a starting point for 100s of other decks -they deserve their place too. This poll's results seems much more realistic to me.

Thanks again! Good to see a poll whose results mean something!

The trouble with most socialists whom I have known (except for thee and me) is that they are so engrossed in politics and economics that they tend to ignore the arts, unlike Morris. However, as a matter of fact, most politicians of any persuasion also ignore the arts unless it can somehow enhance their popularity. Congratulations on getting your article published!

It was a useful poll, closrapexa, even though it was fairly predictable. The official poll was apparently done in the usual fashion, but it reminds me of a sign on the wall of one of the deans at my former workplace (who is now deceased, I believe), a tongue in cheek response to complaints about school policy. It said, "But we've always done it this way!"

Definitely veering wildly off.
Socialism and art have kept members of our clan poor and in hot water for 3 generations, but then that is rather a different issue from 'politics' and 'the arts'.
Back on topic, thank you for doing this poll, I was quite surprised by how few members voted.
Power to the people!

I did not participate but I am glad u did this. The decks that were voted in just make more sense to me. I was confused with the original voting. (How does a deck that was made in 2012 become one of the all time favorites?) Anyway, this helps a lot in helping me choose decks I am unfamiliar with. THX

Thank you so much for your time and effort!
