When reading for others, I do a lot to help "boost" my intuition. I make hibiscus tea, light a few lavender tealights, place some crystals (especially amethyst) around, pray for understanding and easy communication, and finally ground before shuffling the deck. Ending is pretty easy, just snuff the candles and put everything back where it was.
When reading for myself though, I usually just pick up the cards and go.
