RWS Tarot 101 Two of Swords

Two of Swords

A woman blind folded sits on a stone bench with her back to the waters edge. Her arms are folded across her chest as if protecting her heart. In each hand she holds a large sword that points upward. Behind her the water signifies emotions, the rocks in the water signifies tension. The waxing moon shines after the sun sets in the western sky. The waxing moon has many meanings, beginnings, cleansing, growth, new ideas, just to name a few. Thread on waxing/ waning moon:

She has blind folded herself, she dose not want to see or admit to the truth. “Ignorance is bliss?” The blind fold must be removed, being blinded by the light (truth), is far better than being blinded by darkness. With her arms crossed she protects her heart, keeping others at bay. The crossed arms/swords are also a sign of truce, a non resolved peace. A conflict between two equally balanced forces. Do you fight or keep silent? Problems are not easily resolved.

Direct: Compromise, ignoring the obvious, not admitting truth to yourself, closing your heart, solving differences, in need of direction, accepting less than you want, on the fence, delicate balance of powers.

Reversed: Taking action, made a decision, not willing to take less than you want, opening eyes to truth, open heart, irreconcilable differences.

Other treads on the Two of Swords.

LOL, as soon as I saw you mentioned rock in the water, very first thing that came to mind, between a rock and a hard place

I wouldn't say that this card indicates the inability to see the truth, or whatever, it is her REFUSAL to see the truth. Her ego is getting in the way, her head is getting in the way, her thoughts, all she is seeing is illusions and delusions created by her mind. She secretly, or intuitively, knows what the truth is, because that truth lies in the heart, but she just won't accept it, for some reason or rather, mainly out of the delusions and illusions she is under from her own thoughts, such as fears, doubts and insecurities.

Perhaps it could be simply that she is in a relationship or career that she knows is no good for her, but she stays where she is out of fear of being alone or out of not earning an income, as such. Just rambling, as usual

I really like the career angle, it really works with this card, just another ramble I will have to put in my notes ;)

Funny enough, "between a rock and a hard place" in spanish is said "Entre la espada y la pared" (trans: "between the _sword_ and the wall").
