Celtic Shaman's Pack--2015 Edition--The Good and the BAD

celticnoodle

Most of you have seen my original post about my horribly flawed
Celtic Shaman's Pack 2015 that i received the other day.

i decided that while i am waiting for my replacement set to arrive from
the UK [Book Depository], i would try to salvage my wonky deck as best i can.
So i trimmed it to the bone, and gave it a chipped sapphire edge treatment.
It made a huge difference, and at least i have a pocket set of "Flash Cards", or
a deck to keep tucked in my bag when i go out...

Here are some pics of my deck's "Face Lift"...:p

MoonGypsy--absolutely GORGEOUS! I have looked at this deck and been somewhat excited about it--but never enough to put it on my wishlist really. However, after seeing your trimmed version of it--I just might change my mind!

Hah, I was just searching the treads to see what you use. You read my mind.

Here is a great modifying decks video that demonstrates the same trimmer i used:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjBVYY0jLiU

i don't use the expensive corner rounder that Leisa shows in her vid,
i use this one:

http://smile.amazon.com/Aidox-Angle...qid=1444582579&sr=8-5&keywords=corner+rounder

It works GREAT! i have corner rounded many, many decks with it. i keep
a couple always on hand. You can sharpen it occasionally by punching out aluminum foil
a few times.

BTW, i used to use long sharp scissors for trimming the borders, but it was really getting hard on my eyes.
The fiskars trimmer is much easier to use and really gets the job done.

hmmmm...I'll keep an eye out for the fiscars trimmer you use. I am hoping to go to Staples this week anyway--but, I can also order it online at Amazon.com rather cheaply. I was just going to use plain sharp scissors. I didn't even think about the corners and I think I would prefer a rounded corner myself.

btw, LOVE that crystal ball reader! :D

They're GORGEOUS, MoonGypsy! TBH, I like the cards better trimmed, than untrimmed. As you said, it really makes the art pop.

This oracle is high on my list for when I have some space in the budget (or Christmas, whichever comes first). Now I'm thinking I might trim it, even if my deck isn't flawed. Of course, I'll probably never be able to learn the card names if I do that...

How big are the trimmed cards?

Hi AB! :) Regarding your trimming: You can trim off all the white borders, but leave the
titles, if you'd like. They will still look wonderful! i might do that with my replacement deck that is on the way.

The size of my "trimmed to the bone" deck in the pics is now approx. 2.5" x 3.5"--so close to poker size, i think.

Aster Breo

Thanks, MG. That's a perfect size. (I don't like cards that are much bigger than poker size. Too hard to shuffle.)

I like the idea of leaving the titles. If you do that with your replacement deck, please post pics! :-D

I have a substantive question about this deck: Would it be good for a daily draw, or is it (like other Matthews oracles) designed for specific spreads?
