- they are Latin translations of the titles given to the cards by Papus in 1909, based on the teachings of the Martinist order he founded, with the Tarot theory based on Paul Christian, again ultimately going back to Levi. But Mebes seems to be the first to translate them into Latin - Papus and Christian only give French titles. Sadhu's work is essentially an English version of Mebes' lectures, with some expansions of his own. Although Gerard van Rijnberk had connections with Martinism, his Latin titles (given in the previous post) seem to be his own.)
