Scans of Burdel Majors

Abrac

I received a deck of Marseille majors yesterday from gregory (many thanks!). They are from a lot of items by Editions Fabbri/Lo Scarabeo that was being discussed recently in the Thoth forum. They appear to be based on the Burdel TdM, also by LS. This is only the second set of these I have seen and must be fairly rare. I decided to post scans so that all might enjoy them. I don't know what the copyright situation is with this one, if it's still in print it's a well-kept secret. I guess I'll find out.

Hooked on TdM

I think they are fairly new as they have the names of the cards in four languages on them. They are nice though.

Just found it on the Tarot Garden. They were printed in 1996 and are out of print now. There is a miniature print from 2006 which is still available.

Hello all,
I just can't say that:
Originals are in Paris France for the moment
Are much more beautiful. Original is original.
Will be installed in Marseille
In new Museum "MUCEM"

Another good reason to held a Tarot International Conférence in Marseille no ?

Enjoy your deck anyway

Thanks very much Abrac, the Burdel isn't talked about nearly enough in this forum.

Agreed Yves!

Hello again,

I took numeric picture of each card of Claude Burdel 1751 in Paris.
And plans to shows them on a web site in due time.
If I get authorisations from Museum.

Is there anywhere that shows scans of the original Burdel deck? I have the LS Burdel (not Universal) and find myself wondering what the original may look like. I've done a bit of a search but have come up with nothing. Just curious. Thanks :)

I have an original 1751 Claude Burdel deck, but it is incomplete.
The engraving is very beautifully done.

Here are a couple of photos.

Thank you SO much for those scans OnePotato. I beginning to really love this deck, although I dearly wish an original reproduction was available. The figures are so expressive compared to some of the other Marseilles decks, in my opinion. It's just so great to see those scans to have a feel for what the original deck looked like. Thanks again :)
