Herbal Tarot - Five of Pentacles - Mugwort

You can see the minor arcane cards in Constellation 5.

Description: A woman is wrapped against the cold while sitting on a rock. She has two crutches propped against her legs. There is snow on the ground between the woman and a village. There is a large mugwort plant in front of the woman with five discs that have five-petaled flowers on them.

Significant Details: The discs symbolize wealth and security. The crutches symbolize illness. The village symbolizes community. The mugwort plant symbolizes the warding off of evil.

Keywords: Financial loss, Money troubles, Crisis, Learning through hard times

Medicinal Uses: Mugwort is used to aid in menstruation and for convulsions. Culpeper’s Color Herbal. In England and China it was used to ward off evil spirits during the Middle Ages. “Externally, dried mugwort eases aching muscles, and relieves rheumatic pain. Acupuncturists burn cones made from the downy leaf fibers close to the skin to stimulate acupuncture points – a technique known as moxibustion.” American Nature Guides Herbs by Anna Kruger.

My Interpretation: This may be a financially difficult time for you. You may go through hard times, but you will learn from them. You may be given the opportunity to make changes soon.

Number Significance: 5 - Expansion, Conflict, Instability, Opportunity for change

Thoughts/Points to Ponder: The 5 of Pentacles is ruled by Mercury in Taurus. Mugwort is ruled by Venus. Culpeper’s Color Herbal. The 5 of Pentacles is in Constellation 5 with the V High Priest, XIV Temperance, and the Fives. Testing. Counseling. Training. Assimilating and Integrating. Healing. Guidance. Bridging. Translating, Interpreting and Channeling. Arbitrating.

The woman looks sad and alone sitting on the rock, but the village is behind her, so she is alone by choice. I think that she is thinking about what to do now that she is injured. Maybe she is having financial difficulties, as the discs are out of her reach.
