Tarot Minchiate

That spread looks awesome!

Searched for the book at the local library. They don't carry it. But I am not giving up.

Well I think I will give the deck a try with the zodiac. I am studying it for the month of June in deck of the month.

I don't think of it as "tarot" in the normal Thoth/Rider/Golden Dawn/Marseille sense at all. It is Minchiate and I approach it with that in mind. I leave my tarot notions at the door. It works together - all 97 cards.

I really recommend the Brian Williams book. It is quite fascinating.

(not like I am one of the co-hostesses or anything.... :D )

Thank you. Does that link open another thread? It asks for my password again for some reason.

The Brian Williams book comes with his version of Minchiate cards. Available on amazon here:

Yes, you would be receiving yet another deck of cards, but I use them to help me study the Minchiate as they are vastly pared down visually. Hey, you might get lucky and find a book orphan long separated from the set, though. Maybe ebay?

The Brian Williams deck is great! He put a great deal of thought and study into the creation of the deck and along with the book, is a great way to learn the Minchiate system.

Since you asked about ways we use the Minchie, this is a method I like to use with it, and with other historic and non-scenic pip decks--"The Oldest Spread": http://tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=168695&highlight=oldest

Lotus Padma and I used it in the last minchie exchange, and it worked very well! (Hi, Lotus!)

That method looks AMAZING, rachelcat. Just wanted to thank you for posting the link. I'm always down for learning new things from fellow ATers.

Slightly off topic (moderators, plz spank me if I'm way off and need to start a new thread)...

Since we're all here, I thought I'd ask a general question. Is it just me or does your Minchiate have a distinct personality in your readings? Mine has a vibe like an old gossiping and crotchety, yet wise, cat lady...which means I love it :D

Even though decks speak to us in individual ways, I'm wondering if there is a common personality or essence of Minchiate. An Eau of Minchiate, if you will.

Apparently mine smells like cats, lol.

Padma

Mine feels like a wise old man and woman...

Oh okay! Well let me think about it. Thank you!

Having trouble locating a Minchiate study group. I am going to use this thread this month if it isn't appropriate for the Deck of the Month thread.
