Mythras Iconography in the World Card

mythraworldcard (ref.)

[ Note; bumped and condensed for ease of reference.]

Some iconography from the Mitra / Mythras tradition seems to be represented on the RW World card. Note the following:

Mythras ( Mithra) originated in Zoroastrianism

as one of the 'Yazata'

As Mythras developed, his association with cattle is represented as

now note the wreath around the top of the image

Later the image incorporated 'astrology' (note the serpent's changed position)

(the 'secret Sun / Son - if one wants to explore the masonic connection)

The we have Mythra as Sol Invictus - The Lord of the World

equating him with Helios

(note head at Cancer - the northern summer solstice)

And all coming together (with some simplifications , like only 4 of the signs shown) in

depicitng the zodiac (the four animals) the wreath, the entwined snake as the wrapped 'modesty' material around the figure.
