Marseille or MarseilleS

Which is it?

I've seen both, I've used both. Is there a difference between them that I am failing to grasp? My Fourier deck calls itself the Tarot de Marseille, but my Grimaud deck calls itself in English the Tarot of Marseilles.

Kaz

most times you see it as marseilles, but it should be marseille.

The French is 'Marseille' the English 'Marseilles'.

Likewise, the English is 'London', the French 'Londres'.

Thank you JMD! That was something I'd often wondered myself.

I was so confused about that and it's been really niggling me. Thank you :)

That clears that up, really. From now, I will try to always write Tarot of Marseilles but Tarot de Marseille. It was seeing inconsistent usage in these two phrases that threw me.
